    Fellow rockets fans.

I have been posting here in Clutchfans for around 3 years now, I really enjoy it and I am glad to be a member of this community. I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself with the hope that you guys value the team that we have and don’t take it for granted and if possible I help just a little bit so that we as fans start the upcoming playoff series in a positive mind set.

I was born in Houston 39 years ago to Ecuadorian parents and I lived there until I was around 5 years old until my dad finished college and then we came back to Ecuador. I can’t say I remember too much of those years, I just have some random memories about it. However I have always been a sports guy, I love football (soccer) and obviously also basketball, and other sports although not as much, but I have always been a supporter of Houstonian teams, and the Rockets have a special place in my heart. I remember fondly watching the Rockets championship seasons on cable with my dad here in Ecuador, and on the rare occasions I get involved in a basketball conversation here with fellow Ecuadorian sports fans you can bet your a$$ I talk about Olajuwon, Drexler, Cassel, Horry, Maxwell, Ellie, Kenny, Rudy etc. etc. etc. The same happens today when I encounter another NBA fan and they tell me about Curry, Thompson, Lebron, Durant, Westbrook and whatnot, I talk about Harden and our gang, and yes The beard is kind of underrated down here too….

Until recently I had never had a reason to go back to Houston, no family nor business there, and unfortunately Houston is not exactly a tourist destination, so although I have always felt identified with it I had not been there for more than 30 years, which means that I had never seen the Rockets live or any other Houston team of any other sport for that matter. This changed however a couple of years ago when for medical reasons I started to go to Houston at least once a year (all is well, don’t ask). I have been there for 3 years in a row now, and every time I go, I go to see the Rockets. This last time I went to see our W against Denver that clinched the 3rd seed for us about a week ago, I like to think I brought luck….. Below there is a video of me with my wife and a friend of mine in that game, don’t mind my chin, I had brisket, ribs, loaded potato and a bunch of other healthy stuff for lunch that day…… also they say the camera makes you look fatter……… Shut up!!

I have to say I have been lucky, I am yet undefeated at the Toyota Center, and the 3 times I have been there the Rox have won, which is awesome! And Since it took more than 30 years for me to see my favorite NBA team live, every time I go it’s a special occasion, I try to get the best tickets as possible, that don’t bankrupt me of course, and I have a blast. Being there live is definitely much more fun than watching them on TV, and although the environment doesn’t feel as passionate as what I am used to with soccer, it’s still great!

I tell you this story because I am very excited about the playoffs, and I want us to be positive, and as I said above I want to motivate you to value your team, especially those of you who live in Houston and are lucky enough to be able to go see them whenever you please, if your finances allows it of course, don’t take them for granted especially now. Despite all of their shortcomings we do have a great team this year and it needs us as fans to be supportive, at least for a short while we as a community need to become the team’s 6th man, that the players feel that the city and all the fans wherever they are, are behind them until the end, we need to stick together, good vibes and positive thoughts bring good things, negativism only brings defeat. If we lose, then let it be because the other team was better than us, but we gave it all, that’s alright, that’s a good way to go, but if at the first sign of trouble we start b****ing and bickering we would only be making things worse, if we lose there will be plenty of time later for arguing, complaining and name calling around here, but while we are alive in the playoffs lets be supportive and motivate our team to fight!

I would love to be able to be there for the playoffs, that won’t be possible, but still I feel lucky because I got to see them in a great year (i wont jinx it saying what i really want to say...), and I got to see the true MVP in action again! I have seen that there are people in Clutchfans from all over the world that maybe aren’t as lucky as me and have yet been able to see the Rockets live, but I am sure they would love to! Houstonians support our team, defend it, don’t kick it when it’s down, and don’t take it for granted!! Support it for those of us who cannot be there with you during the playoffs!! GO ROCKETS!!!!!

Pd. I also went to see the Astros a couple of seasons ago…. We suck… LOL

I agree completely! Saying you hate a player to me is just the kind of negativity we don't need right now. We are still in the playoffs, and we need to support the guys we have out there right now, and who got us this far. Nobody does better in a game with people screaming hateful things at them. Nothing good comes out of that. I don't believe for a minute our guys go out there and decide to just play terribly, or that they simply don't want to win as bad as we want them to. They are out there doing the best they can do, and it's up to the coach to fix what isn't working as best he can with who he has to work with.

Saying things you think could be improved is one thing, but just saying "I have grown to hate so and so" is just negative in every way. Sure, I can understand if people would like to see trades in the offseason, etc, and make adjustments to our roster. But.........this is now, we are the Rockets, and let's just support the guys we have, doing the best they can, and show them the kind of support they deserve. Go Rockets!!!

    I know, i stand corrected.

Keep in mind i said a couple of years ago, that season we finished dead last i think. I was in Houston on opening day, i could not go to the game though, but i found it funny that while they were playing i was at the galleria and i saw a lot of people wearing astros stuff, but not watching the game. Anyway lets hope it lasts!!
