I think you would have to say JJ is a lot more than a role player.

Yes, the Rockets will make the playoffs barring major injuries. I would bet any kind of money on that statement. Any takers?

everyone on this team other than yao and steve are role players. JJ just happens to be better at it than others. He is our new mario elie....less charisma, more skillful.

 

The reasons?

1 - JVG is making the Rockets "foc-ass."
2 - JVG is preaching -- and demanding -- defense.
3 - JVG is blending the talents of the Rocket players.
4 - JVG is preaching -- and demanding -- better passing.
5 - JVG is preaching -- and teaching -- basketball fundamentals.

Rudy, I still hold you in the highest regard as a coach, a player, a Rocket and a man. However, I am becoming convinced the coaching change was needed.

 

1] JVG's Defence
2] JVG eliminates Rudy ball and allows Yao Ming to get a fair shake at developing.
3] Cat gets 6th. Man of the Year Award.
4] Steve Francis learns how to make good passes.
5] Yao Ming learns positioning
6]As the season progresses the Team builds confidence, especially after the Team Meeting where Yao Ming becomes enraged and demands full inclusion in the Game.

 

You do realize that one has to come off the bench to get that award, right?

4) Highly efficient frontcourt. Both Cato and Yao will shoot over 50%.

1) Anchors are no longer holding offense back. Eddie Griffin was an anchor last year. I'm one who liked his potential to become an efficient scorer without being a complete liabity on boards and defense, but Cato, Yao, and Mo T are showing that they are better without him than with him.
