Yao's performance getting worse and worse, last two games it’s worse than last year. He is playing without energy and emotion. Maybe he should play only 20 minutes for now going 100% instead of playing 30-50% and always thinking about to save his energy for the next quarter. I would rather watch him play 20 minutes like a man than watch him play 37 minutes like a girl. Also he should take at least 16 shots a game, shout at his teammates and kick their ass if they continue to ignore him when he is in good position. Reebok should tell him no deals until he play like a man, because no man wants to buy a big girl’s shoe, that may light a fire under his ass.

I'll take a double-double from Yao and a Rocket's victory any day of the week.

I would hardly call dunking on Zo Mourning "playing without emotion" His teammates are not ignoring him. Yao commands double-teams nightly and instead of forcing a pass and risking turnovers, they are taking shots when they are open. Stop trying to start a war around here. It isn't Yao's fault Amaechi sucks and can't relieve Yao. JVG keeps him in the game for long periods because he affects the game. Even a tired, exhausted Yao makes smart passes and shut down the lane.

I shouldn't feed the trolls but, here I go:

Even if you are were right, and you're not, it does not matter. What is important is that Yao does demand that double team or he will own you. This is all the rockets really need for the floor to spread and the shots to open up. I want him to be more aggressive too, but he often gets the double-team before he even gets the ball! I think this quote from the New York Times is pretty accurate:

"But they exhausted themselves trying to double-team him and paid for their efforts at the end."

Now that all that has been said, someone please lock this r****ded thread. :D

As long as JVG is here, rockets will make the playoff and likely many years from now on simply because of their improved defense. If Yao cannot develop into a dominant player, houston will never be a championship team. On that case, trade Yao for Elton Brand may give houston a better shot.

This is gonna be a cycle all season Yao is gonna have a few big games and teams will say "we gotta stop Yao and make everyone else beat us". Yao will be doubled and tripled and his stats will fall. Then teams will say "Yao ain't all that lets try and have player X cover him mono-a-mono". Yao will dominate a few and then back to the double teams. So relax a little or your gonna wear out your keyboard creating this tired thread every three games.

Lord knows people have given Steve and Cat tons of time to "mature", can't we be at least a bit more patient with Yao? He is still VERY young and needs to learn more about the his game which will make him look much better.

I would say it takes longer for a dominant center to develop than a guard. Plus the year-round basketball playing has got to be taking a toll on him.

A dominant center is a dominant center, if you wait 2 more years, you will most likely get youself a shawn Bradly than Hakeem.

Are you friggin crazy?? FINE, he might not of had a good offensive showing last night, but DID YOU SEE HOW HE MAKES OPPONENTS CHANGE THEIR SHOT??? Yea he is capable of scoring 20+ every time but I'd play him just for his defensive presence. Every time someone goes for a layup or short jumper, it always ends up being a bad pass or a pathetic floater.

Give Yao a break, he played all summer and had to play back to back games.

Yao has shown more offensive skills in his left pinky finger than Bradley has shown in his long career...

If you wait 2 more years.. yao could be a 7'6 335+ lb monster with the capability to dominate every team he faces.

Yao is the reason we have won the games we have. Nearly every time down, he forces teams to double him, freeing up our shooters (Cat 8/9 last night) and creating holes in the defense. Defensively, he makes people change shots, he blocks others, and in general clogs up the lane.

Yao certainly has room for improvement, but as far as I am concerned, he is THE stud on our team.

Well, even girls can play extremely aggressive too.

Leave Yao alone and watch the big girls instead.

I agree and disagree. Offensively, he was a bit of a liability last night. I'd give most of the credit for that to a great Nets defense that was forcing a lot of turnovers and playing very physical, pushing Yao away from the basket. I'm glad that Francis, Mobley and Taylor took over that game at the end because if they kept feeding Yao in the post, we would have likely lost; Yao was overmatched by the defense. That they spent so much energy on Yao may have helped seal the game since the perimeter defense the Nets presented at the end of the game didn't seem as tight as earlier -- they seemed tired. Of course, it didn't hurt having guys shoot lights out, open or not.

Yao didn't play well last night offensively. Whether it was because he's tired or because the Nets double teamed him all night, or both, I don't know. But, scoring or not, his presence alone freed up his teammates and tired out the opponent. That's enough reason to leave him on the floor.

Now, the thread starter is obviously a troll. Let's don't feed him.
