Another ref Sean Wright was 5th in the league.

Here's a Feigen article discussing this with quotes from OKC

Thunder aim to avoid foul trouble against Rockets

The Rockets in the regular-season led the NBA in free throws attempted per game, averaging 26.5. Oklahoma City did a relatively good job avoiding fouls in the four regular-season meeting with the Rockets averaging 23.8 against Oklahoma City, but avoiding foul trouble could be especially important in Game 1, and potentially difficult.

Lead official James Capers led the NBA in fouls called per 48 minutes. Official Sean Wright was fifth.

"You start getting fouls early in the quarters, now you start putting teams to the free throw line," Thunder coach Sean Wright said. "That's anybody. Being able to defend without fouling is really, really important. Once you get three fouls in the first few minutes of a quarter, you're really putting yourself in a difficult situation."

Andre Roberson, matched up on James Harden, said he will be particularly careful to avoid the reach-in fouls Harden is so adept at drawing. Harden led the NBA in free throws made an attempted with Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook second. Harden's 9.2 free throws per game are more than anyone by Westbrook or DeMarcus Cousins attempted per game.

"Everybody scores different," Roberson said. "They all have different parts of the game they're great at. James is great at getting to the foul line, penetrating, kicking out to teammates. He has a great all-around game.

"It's very important for me to stay out of foul trouble. You stay in the game as much as possible and also stay in the rhythm of the game. When you get two quick fouls, it's tough to get in the rhythm of the game, get a feel for it."

OKC wants to play bullyball. Rockets attack the basket on drives. Tight wistle helps Rockets I think.

Bad I'd rather see James Harden play then Ames Frauen ref baiting his way to another 0-1 start

"We're just going to do the best we can," D'Antoni said. "He's [Westbrook]going to get his, obviously. We're going to try to keep him off the foul line and make as many shots ... hard shots. When you average a triple double, I don't think anyone's come up with a way to stop him. You just try to eliminate as much as you can and play well on the other end."

I just want some kind of consistency. I just hope Bev doesn't get into foul trouble.

Well we shoot slightly better from the FT line and Lou could really use some extra trips to the line so I would say it's a slight advantage for us.

what's good is we're back to discussing basketball games instead of that stupid MVP race. So I take it as a positive, 100%. ;)

VERY good. A lot of Harden's game relies on getting fouls called. OKC plays very physical

Guess who the ref is tonight. Mr. Capers.

Warriors have not lost a playoff game since 2015 in a game officiated by James Capers. Game 5 Ref = James Capers

Looks like we have to make our open shots and attack the paint.

Hopefully the rule book will apply to harden again and he will get the calls got all season and playoffs until this series. He's not getting the 3 point fouls called and there were 3 blatant ones in game 4 that were not called. Also not getting many calls on his drives like usual. I can see Draymond getting ejected, dude is going to be over hyped and over emotional.

I wonder if Harden/Curry will get reach-around calls since they both tend to do that when they get beat off the bounce. I know there's a phrasing problem somewhere in there.
