I'm catching the replay here on YES Network, and I have to say that Jim Jackson is just SO impressive. He does dirty work, plays good defense, and all in all, just plays the game the RIGHT way. Better than Steve, better than Yao, better than anybody in a certain sense. I was not a fan of ditching Posey, but JJ is just what the doctor ordered and probably better as far as I'm concerned.
Continuing with that thought, the fact that he's such a polished reliable veteran makes his early career so inexplicable Back then, this guy had a bad rap as an egomaniac/selfish etc, and hence has played in more cities than Cirque de Soleil. And then there was the weird feud w/Kidd about Toni Braxton. But now it seems like he is the exact opposite. Really great to see.
Without Jim Jackson the Rockets are not 3-1. Plain and simple. This guy is like Mario Elle on steroids for crying out loud.
I just hope he keeps playing like he's playing. JJ is so much better than I thought he'd be. He's doing everything. The guy has 8 boards, 4 steals and 2 turnovers in 40 minutes? Outstanding defense? His shooting is just gravy.
Hey, I for one have never blamed Jimmy Jax for this. It is Toni freaking Braxton, you cannot let friends or teammates stand in your way of hitting that. If you have a shot with a hot, rich celebrity, you HAVE to go for it. Kidd does not have the greatest relationship with women, anyway. I was psyched to get Jackson, too. He is just what the Rockets needed, a tough smart veteran to act as a stabilizing force when the team panics. He seems a bit streaky on offense, but he is clearly much, much better at scoring than James Posey will ever be. I hated seeing Posey with the ball on offense last year.
So Far So Good, Perhaps, JJ learned how to play with SAC. If you ever watch SAC play, they have got to be the best passing team in the NBA. Those guys can flat out play team ball. I hope one day that the Rockets can learn how to pass like the Kings do.
They guy is a frickin bad-as*. He's well-rounded basketball player. A "near" all-star on both ends. Without his injury he could have been one of the best players today. J Mash is the same way, except *keeps* getting hurt.
JJ is a stud. Every part of his game is so solid. Its shocking to see him bounce from team to team. Good thing we got him locked up for 3 years.
I used to date a girl at Macomber See the 1989 all-USA class. Ohio State Athlete of the year for 91 and 92. 1st round NBA Draft 4th pick 1992. Jim Jackson's first NBA shot was blocked after a lengthy holdout by..... Hakeem Olajuwon.... anyone remember that? list for all time all USA highschool teams
So you're saying Elie was 'DieHard' but Jimmy is 'DieHarder'? Only a championship can determine that.
