I've come to terms with it. Harden will be this great for another 6 years. His style is surgical and doesn't depend on uber athleticism.

Westbrook's body will start breaking down in a couple of years and he will probably be out of the league by 32.

Harden has a lot more chances to win the MVP than Russ. He will eventually win his.

My only wish is for the voters that don't put Harden at either #1 or #2 to either explain their logic and voting criteria in detail, or outright admit that they don't like Harden. I just would love to see a thoughtful and logically consistent argument for voting Harden anything less than #2.

Read the comments in that article and get ready to lose your faith in humanity.

When people dig their heels in it's really impossible to change their mind regardless of the facts presented. You can say that about Harden supporters as well, of course. However, the media and triple double is so ingrained and promoted, 90% plus of the people watching basketball have an extreme bias toward Westbrook. The narratives that have been promoted nationally such as this apparent group of all-stars that Harden plays with are pervasive.

This article was well thought out and presented but it's going over most people's heads. Harden isn't liked by a lot of people, for whatever reason, and the general public won't even acknowledge his numbers.

Can we even put much credence into this award if Steve Kyler and Michelle ****ing Beadle are some of the reporters deciding who wins?

Nah, Westbrook is a LeBron/VC-level athlete. He'll stay incredibly explosive for far longer than an average player.

Both of those guys have altered their game to be less reliant on athleticism.

but they both still have it, and you guys can't honestly believe Westbrook is getting by on athleticism alone, he's incredibly talented.

Westbrook is going to end up like Dwyane Wade.

How? Wade was damaged goods before he played a minute in the NBA, Westbrook tore his meniscus once and had it repaired (as opposed to Wade who had it trimmed). He's been one of the league's most durable players.

That's not to say ending up like Wade would be terrible. He's 35 years old, how many SGs were better than him at 35?

Wade is an NBA champion. At this rate I doubt Russ will ever win one.

I'm not all that mad about Harden apparently looking another close MVP race. He will win one one of the next few years.

Harden, Ariza, LeBron and Tristan have been the most durable players.

    Westbrook has not.

Other than being a member of the gigantic echoing circle jerk that is ESPN, exactly what qualifies Michelle Beadle to be a voter for the most important individual award in American sports?? I would love to know the criteria the NBA uses when choosing who gets a vote, and who doesn't. Right now, based on some of the people who do have votes, it seems pretty damn random.

As long as the narrative keeps changing away from Harden's favor, I doubt this. We'll see.

I wouldn't worry too much about that, half of them can't even spell his last name correctly so I doubt they've seen more than 3 NBA games this season to even care about it.

Tons of folks working overtime to make sure James doesn't win. They wont admit it but they want anyone else to win but him and they hitched themselves to the only other realistic candidate to hedge their bets.
