Its a great game but you can undertsnad why Im not to happy. Its the end of the 2007 season and Im going for a second straight Superbowl win. Its the Colt vs Cowboys and quite franly Im looking forward to beating up Manning and his over rated bunch....anyway. The problem is when I got to start the game. It starts to load and and get about 75% through the loading proccess and then it just freezes. In other words.....Ive played all this time to go for back to back titles and the bloody thing wont let me play the Superbowl! Ive tryed to chnage a few things to see if it worked. I chnaged the jersey of both teams. I chnaged the playobook I was using....nothing worked. I was able to set up an play a normal game and if I sim the Superbowl I can go on and play the Pro Bowl without any problems. Anyway wouldnt that just piss you off? I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone else had a similar problem. I wonder if maybe there is a problem with the stadium that was to be used for the game. If its in the game...
whenever I hit "update" on the madden splash screen for PC my game starts to download the latest roster/patch but then it freezes. seriously annoying
I had the exact same problem and it may have been in year 2007. I had to simulate the Super Bowl to get it to work. It was annoying. The other thing that bugs me is that the instant replay doesn't have any spoken words from the referee. He just stands there looking stupid then whether or not the play was reversed or remains is displayed on the screen. Save me some time and skip the stupid ref standing there like an idiot.
See if its happened for someone else in season 2007 I would guess there must be a problem loading that stadium. Anyway it really pisses me off. A good season, just thrashed the Rams and then it wont let me play the big game. Ah well. It looks like I'll just have to sim the game. Its lucky I enjoy building a side in the off season. All I know it it better not stuff up again if Im going for three straight titles!!!!
What platform are you playing on? On XBOX my ref always speaks, either says "the call on the field stands" or "the call on the field is overturned". Then he yacks about losing a timeout, etc. I'm fairly impressed with the 04 Madden. I've only had one minor bug, it was right after a questionable call and I challenged. The game never progressed to the replay, it just kept going from player to player, never froze but stuck in that post play mode. I had to power off. After a kickoff return and a pic return for a TD and I was up 35-0.
How long did you let it stay on the players before you powered it off? I know it does that time to time on my game(X-Box) and if you wait a little while (i dont remember if pressing "A" button works or not) but it'll eventually come up to the ref.
In the PS2 version there are two problems with the refs. 1. When you are getting the call after a Instant Reply (Challenge) the ref either doesnt speak, or his mouth doesnt move. 2. When there is a penalty on the field there is a wait before you get the call from the ref. usually its about 5 second of watching the players stand around doing nothing untill the ref gets into a position to make the call. The second one is easy to fix with an animation of the umpires, refs and co huddling togeather to work out the call. The first problem is just getting the timing right. Make no mistake about it, I love madden 2004. Its the best sports sim Ive ever played and I wont be buying another Madden game because 2004 is pretty much what I want from an complete NFL game. But when you can play in your second Superbowl....it just doesnt make for a happy gaming moment.
Once I recovered a fumble on defense (on third down), and there was a penalty against the offense. I declined (so I could keep the ball). Then it goes to the play selection screen and I am still on defense, plus we have been magically transported to the other end of the field, so instead of me being 30 yards from scoring, the other team is 30 yards from scoring. It turned a fumble into a 40 yard gain.
I'm an NCAA guy myself, but I still love Madden. Does anyone know a good site that has a list of the players that weren't included in the game (ie. Tony Hollings, JJ Moses) as well as the rookies without names?
the only real problem i've had is on Instant Replays. Either the Ref says nothing or you can barely hear what he says. Also, if i decide not to view the replay, John Madden and Al Michaels will continue to talk as the Ref gives his decision. Other than that it's been a great game with no major problems for me.

I've never had the game freeze on me during anything. I've got Madden 04 on PS2 and the Refs do speak when the call is challenged, you just don't hear it sometimes because you skip through the sequence and Madden and Michaels are talking over his voice. I don't remember having any problem in 2007, but I was probably in a rebuilding season and didn't even make the playoffs. The Current Glitch I've been having in my current season (2013) Is that it defaults my starting OLB and DT at WR and RB in my shotgun formation, and vice verse in my base 4-3 Defense. It gets really, really annoying to call a play and see my DT in the backfield with my QB.
I am in season 2017 I think in one of my teams. I simmed almost every game on that one. no lockups, nothing. but i have a problem. No other cities ever make offers for my team. I want a city to offer me a stadium to move there. also cities dont grow. not a big deal, but after 15 years in the league you would hope that there would be some changes. I mean otherwise put it in the game. on the team I play with my best friend, we had the stats for Dante Stallworth go haywire. He pretty much catches every pass all season. so after averaging 500+ yards a game for half of a season most of his number went negative. no effect on game play just a little glitch. -7000 yards is apparently not a record for the NFL. it does however make him cheap as hell to sign to a 7 year deal. I love that they have the holdout. it keeps you from making super super teams. it is still pretty easy to manage players and win lots of titles while making serious cash. but at least you cant continue to pay McNabb peanuts. I hate it but I love that they did it. has anyone else noticed that trading is way to easy to improve your team with? This game is a ton of fun to play with a buddy. I tend to QB, my best friend catches and runs. He is the LE I play RE on defence. we pack down a sixer+ and play about 3 games a night when we get together. average score is 60+ to about 28. we always rank first in run defence and last in pass defence. great game though it really is. PS2 by the way for me.
My mom just cleaned out her attic and found my football game. I have been playing it and reliving the memories for a few days now.
try going to depth charts and reset them. I think its the circle option. I think that kind of stuf happens when you adjust the depth chart during a game. everything kinda gets screwy after that. Everyone should go to game options and turn madden off. My replays are fine my refs talk all is well
