To be fair he's said he doesn't think Westbrook should be MVP.

So, assume you are correct and a triple double is the reason that Westbrook would win the MVP. Now, let's assume that Westbrook somehow manages to get down to where he only has 819 assists (In essence 9.9 a game). Should the lack of that one assist cost him the MVP?

that pretty much would. the actual title of triple double is the only argument that has WB over Harden

Question amendment*: If Westbrook averages a 10, 10, 10 triple double, does he still deserve to be in the conversation with Harden as MVP? is it still a big deal?

Nope. IMO, he currently doesn't belong in the conversation b/c OKC is performing too poorly as a team.

Mine would be Harden, then Leonard, then Westbrook.

I've gotten so salty about this MVP talk, members who agree that Harden is the MVP, and are simply arguing the legitimacy of Westbrook's MVP candidacy, has me beside myself seeing red. Media has my objectivity on strike.

Why are two rebounds a game a big deal? Have the Thunder won all the games with 10+ rebounds, but lost every game with 8 or less rebounds? Would the Rockets be the best team in the NBA if Harden averaged 2 more rebounds? Why are they such a big deal? Educate me.

The only other guy who did it didn't win MVP so why should Russ. Do you want to re-vote so Big O gets his?

Averaging a triple double is a big deal. Especially if the guy is averaging damn near 30 ppg. Not to mention his 4th quarter bravado this year. It is what it is guys. It sucks because Harden is clearly getting deliberately overlooked again. But the media has power and they're exercising it to the max this year.

Would 9.9 be not a big deal?

Not when your actual rebounders are paving the way for you to get your rebounds or when you completely leave your man and camp out in the paint (without getting 3 secs called) for those rebounds.

Unfortunately, "analysts" and "experts" dont actually watch these games, but rather seem to only look at box scores and stats. These are the same folks who say Westbrook is a good defender. If Westbrook is a good defender, Harden should be considered for Defensive Player of the Year (but that belongs to Pat Bev).

It is amazing when Broussard says "This is the hate for Westbrook!"

Yeah. Did Westbrook make an All-NBA team last year? Yeah.
