Using that logic, we don't know if we have a mediocre offense either. Small sample sizes are a two way street.
Ya. There is no way the 1 run game trend continues. Rangers bullpen is still very suspect. Did you notice the graphic on root last night that said: "Rangers the luckiest team in MLB." ? Thought it was a nice touch
Doesn't the guy deserve some credit? 3 straight opening days, he was hurt last year, and he won the CY young the year before that. Of course he's the ace!
Marwin Gonzalez is not a good enough hitter to play first base in the Major Leagues. You wanna use him at 2b or SS and let Carlos or Jose DH fine, but a good team shouldnt have him playing 1B. The bat does not play.
to piggy back off another point. So basically, no team has an Ace based on the previous year's performance? For instance, Dodger fans won't know if Kershaw is an ACE until he performs well this year? Trust me, I see where you are going, but it's a slippery slope, right? I suppose no player should be granted anything based on previous years, but this is the leap of faith necessary in sports, or else you would see players fighting over repeating 1 year contracts every year.
Pitchers earn the title of "ACE" via performance. A guy who pitched like an ace last year will hold that status until proved otherwise. Dallas didnt pitch like an ace last year, so in my way of thinking he has to regain that status, Kershaw doesnt.
Hopefully Lance has solid enough control tonight to go 6-7 innings and have a great outing. Let's go Stros!
What in the world was Blue looking at the pitch before the official K. Goodness. Great inning for Lance though. Quick punch outs.
