A lot of people are trying to diminish Westbrook's triple-double because he gets lots of uncontested rebounds deferred by his teammates. But is it really as rare as we are making it out to be? I bet it happens with other players too! And other than stat padding, is it even hurting his team at all that he got the rebound instead of Adams or Canter?
Wouldnt be so bad if Adams wasn't built like he's meant to get 20 rpg.. But he got his money so he probably dont give a ****!
We do it with Harden but not so egregious or as often. It helps getting him immediately into reading the defense in transition. Okc did this exact same thing last year for Durant. I read an article or quality quality post from a fan comment section that detailed this extensively. It's a bold bold strategy implemented by okc and details how this boxing out scheme has helped them become a fantastic rebounding team. That being said, Westbrook is absolutely stat padding. He hurts their defense more than he helps their rebounding.
He is stat padding, but he still has to chase down all those rebounds, which is still remarkable. Steve Francis could have been grabbing close to 10 If he was in such a scheme.
