Horrible officiating noticed by players union and...

    They may begin grading officials! Heck yeah, hold them accountable.

    Billy Hunter, the executive director of the NBA players union, has discussed the possibility of having the union grade officials.


    "I think it would be great to have a grading system that comes from the players association, the union ... kind of call them (officials) out a bit," said Detroit's Jerry Stackhouse.


    Hunter said the idea stems from the overwhelming number of complaints he has heard this season from players about officiating.


    "They say the refereeing this past year has been abysmal," Hunter said.


    Stackhouse, who is among the NBA leaders in free throw attempts and free throws made, agrees.


    "If you take polls of all the players," Stackhouse said, "all the players can't be wrong."

    I agree with this completely.

    I am suprised that we never heard anything from the NBA after the Kings/Rockets game where Bill Kennedy(you can see how much I like him from my quote) ejected Steve Francis. IMO, Kennedy's call cost the Rockets a chance of winning that game and stripped the Rockets of all momentum. That call was inexcusable and I believe that the players should have a word in how refs are performing since they have such an impact on the game if they don't do their job.

    This is tremendous news. I only wonder what took so long. Even if the refs are officiating well, there should be some kind of rating system so that the refs who do an excellent job can be rewarded and recognized.

    The damn refs were beginning to think they are infallible.
