Wow at all the hate. I thought there were plot holes and whatnot but it really wasn't too different from the previous seasons. Thought it was great.
Is this the second or the third wave of blow black? You have to jump in early on the "oh it sucks now train" or you won't get premium seats. Outside of it getting stale or when they did the throwback Victorian ones, this is the same show.
I've only seen 2 of the 3 eps for series 4, and I love it so far. My favorite part of the entire series has always been the relationship between Sherlock and Watson, and their relationships with others in the show. The cases, to me, are the fillers. Cumberbatch is great. Everyone loves him in this role, but Freeman seems underappreciated in his role as Watson. He's so freaking good in this show.
Eh, to me it's the opposite. I watch it for the cases, and the relationships are secondary to me. And that's probably why I liked the earlier episodes better, because they felt more case-centric. All the rending of garments between the major characters for its own sake mostly bores me. My favorite episodes are still the 1st & 3rd from series one, but there were certainly some other good ones along the way. It just didn't finish as strong as it began, for me.
I believe this 4rd season/series is complete. I read somewhere, that Cumberbatch is signed through for a 5th season.
That would surprise me a little bit. The voiceover and everything at the end of this 4th season felt very end-of-series-ish. I certainly hope it isn't though. I feel like the series ended on a whimper. The more personal they kept trying to get with this show... John's wife, Sherlock's sister/family, etc... the more bored I got with it. I really hope there's a series 5 that are just straight mysteries to solve, like the pilot.
AGREED. Anything to do with that wife KILLED me. Yet they found a way to keep her around FOREVER. Dude even had to divorce her in REAL life, I think. Maybe British people liked her or something.
The show runners have already written the next, fifth season. Finding time in Cumberbatch's and Freeman's schedule will determine if Season 5 happens.
Yeah, so I watched the final episode last night, and thought the same thing. "Man they sure are putting a nice neat bow on this thing if they are trying to do a fifth season still." Spoiler Regarding the actual episode: I was very much immersed in it. I thought it was great...until the end. I liked the situations they were put in, and the Redbeard reveal. I even reluctantly accepted Moriarty, very reluctantly. What I couldn't accept is as John is drowning, Sherlock just tells his sister (forgot name), that it's all good now, and she accepts that. If these visits from Sherlock will have her behaving on this island, why lock her up still? Anyway, I did like the reveal of Redbeard though. I like when Mycroft was "convincing" Sherlock to shoot John. The scene with Molly was pretty intense even though you knew it would be ok. Even the little fact that Sherlock now knows Greg's name was a nice touch. What was NOT a nice touch was the freezeframe of them running at the end. That was bad.
They can't end the series yet without Sherlock ending up with Irene Adler. It's gotta end like The Dark Knight Rises.
I actually liked Mary, and the 2nd episode of this last season was probably a top 5 in the series, even before all the fireworks at the end. The last episode was a change in genre, but still good.
The inconsistent seasons really distracts for me it becomes something I have to be in the mood for now Rocket River
Not Sherlock, but Gatiss and Moffat have been busy: Same series setup as Sherlock, 3 90-minute episodes in Season 1.
