The hangout has become the worst place to ask for real serious advice. Post here and check through some of these threads and you should get a better idea http://www.city-data.com/forum/houston/ I don't believe spring is as bad as people make it out to be on here but it is a suburb with typical suburb dealings and shortcomings. If the burbs are more your style then you'll like it. If you like being in the mix then you'll be taking a lot of trips down 45 to the city limits. Should take you about 20 minutes with no traffic. Thee woodlands is next door and they have some cools stuff there like a town center, outdoor amphitheater https://www.woodlandscenter.org/ and my favorite twin peaks location is there hahah. If you enjoy running there are several places but my favorite is buffalo bayou park http://buffalobayou.org/visit/destination/buffalo-bayou-park/. Montrose/DT/Midtown for drinks. Houston is huge so you'll need to explore a lot. Maybe a little more info so we can help you out more. Will you be working DT? What does active include? Where are you moving from? What else do y'all like to do?
