And they have been covering the NBA and the Rockets for years, right? And they probably have a lot of good inside sources on the Rockets aside from Yao, right?
Do you know for a fact? As far as I know, only CHen MIng is now in Houston, and she has no access to Yao MIng more than any other reporters. She even wrote one article about difficulty in accessing YM.
I am amazed that so many people are willing to believe and quote those non sense reports from Sina. Yes, those reporters may cover the Rox in Houston. But remember, they are coming to H-town only for Yao and they are no difference than those extreme Yao-only fans. Have you realized those reports really make Yao looks like a bad, selfish person? What they hint in the article is once Yao want to grab rebound or block shot, no one should to do the same thing until Yao fails to do so. They are only allowed to rebound and block when Yao is not there. When Yao are going after a rebound, everybody should go away and let Yao get his stats. Do you REALLY think Yao is that kind of person? If so, do you really think Yao is stupid enough to speak to public (forget about speaking in Chinese, in today's world, the speak will be translated by English and go back to American media in no time)?
Are these job requirements, buddy? Some of them were talking to Yao at Yao's house. Does that qualify for inside/authentic source? Well, I am just saying what I think is Rockets problem from what I read. I could be right or I could be wrong. But I like to see Rockets in the playoff and play decent game.
Sina is not a non-sense website. There is a widespread rumour that the owner of sino is recently married to the daughter of Chinese premier.
We are off the topic here. I guess we are all trying to figure out what Rockets problems are. My opinion is that they do NOT have the chemistry yet. Worse, the chemistry won't be there for a long time. Just my 2 cents (Not quoted from anywhere!!!)
Yes, I think it is really funny that those so called insider reporters are painting Yao like that kind of person: When talking about his weakness about rebounding, he complained something like "It is not my fault, my teammate robbed me my rebounds" or "When I wanted to block, my teammate robbed it too". Again, do you think Yao is that kind of person and willing to make himself very selfish and stupid to the public? Did these reports help building team chemistry? Do you believe so?
Almost everyone here know why rox can't go to playoff for long time. They are a lot of streetballzers inside this team. Only way to solve is to trade some big hard heads or trade Yao Ming. I am not a Yao-only fan, but I hate rox style in NBA, I see only two or three team players there.(JJ, YM, ...)
I read those articles. It's pretty obvious that these are the worst sort of yellow journalism possible. Instead of reporting on observations, the articles are filled with interpretations that are bordering the fantastic. The supposed issues between Yao and SF, and between Yao and Cato are completely speculations of the reporter(s). They would write about some supposed problem between Yao and Cato and then throw in a quote from Yao completely out of context to make it look like Yao is agreeing with these things when in fact none of the quotes from Yao suggested any problems. Just look at the actual quotes from Yao and see how innocent they sound and compare it to the tone of the rest of the articles. BTW, if you are going to take sina.com's news articles as facts, here is another sina.com article claiming that there is zero unemployment in Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong (which every Chinese person aged 3 and above knows is utterly false; there are about 10 million unemployed in Liaoning alone) http://news.sina.com.cn/c/2003-10-29/05382021052.shtml
Yes, when I assess the credibility of sports writers I generally look for those types of things. I don't think its xenophobic or a stretch to say that the american sports media is far superior in covering american sports than the chinese media. It's just a simple fact, and the inverse is probably true as well. For example, I'm sure that Sina.com would do a better job than Jonathan Feigen in covering the Shanghai Sharks. However, I don't even give local or national media whose job it is to cover the Rockets that much credit. So how much credence do I give to Johnny come lately Chinese media who are here to cover 1. Yao and 2. everything else? Not that much.
SINA NEWS is TRASH, garbage, rubbish, BS..... If you belive in their reporters' words, you might as well roll a joint !!!
Don't read too much into those article. The reporter there(just like reporter everywhere) likes to stir thing up. Yeah, there is some politic going on in the locker room, Yao is not happy with Cato, blah, blah, blah. Fact is, Yao never utter such words himself, it is all speculation by the reporter.
What are you talking about? You are just really getting annoying. That's your response to my post about reporter credibility? Where did I ever mention anything about Rocket's or Yao Ming's problem? I guess it's about time to ban you, troll. Quote: Originally posted by michecon Do you know for a fact? Then just straight out say it's just your opinion, don't quote weakass "reporter" to justify your judgement. I guess people will take you more seriously that way.
