That's reassuring. I know Hubie voted for Harden 1st in 2015. I thought Jon Barry was a rockets hater now?

the only way Harden doesnt win is if rockets win 55 or less games and some how OKC manages 50 wins.. they have to go 10-2 to hit 50 wins.. We have to go 6-5 to go 55 wins... I believe both scenarios are possible. A 50 win season would make OKC season look like a great success and he will probably end up at 5th seed..

I haven't known Barry to be a Rockets hater, but I'm confident that these are the type of people who will sit down and make an informed decision...they're not dumbasses like Chris Broussard who has a vote and says things like "if Westbrook averages 9.9 assists instead of 10 then he's not my MVP"

guys like Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst also had votes...I'm pretty sure that Stein has had Harden barely leading the race for most of the season and Windhorst voted for Harden over Curry back in 2015

you're not gonna get these Beadle, Kellerman, or Skip Bayless types getting votes for the most part

Marcellus had the right conclusion that Harden is the MVP, but he needs to argue more effectively. I really wish that I could make the rounds on all of these shows on ESPN for just 1 day in order to make the case for why Harden should be the MVP. I'd be bringing so many facts and completely destroy these pro-Westbrook arguments.

So at the beginning of the season Vegas had the over/under for team wins as follows:

    SA 56.5
    OKC 45.5
    HOU 41.5

So SA is on pace to eclipse that by a few games.
    OKC should be around 44-47.
    HOU should be around 55-56.

SA & OKC are going to wind up right around where they were expected to be.
However it looks like the Rockets could wind up being 14-15 games better then expected.

    So how does this happen?
MVP (most VALUABLE player), you know the guy who raises not just his game but his teammates play as well (which by the way in the Rockets case doesn't include any other all-stars) and they wind up winning WAY more games then any of the experts projected.

So how in the world can you not give the MVP to Harden this year if these three teams finish the season out with these win totals (with Harden, KL & Westbrook being the front runners)?

SA is right where everyone thought they'd be as is OKC.
The Rockets have vaulted all the way up to the #3 seed (in the west mind you) and the main reason why is Harden elevating his play and his teammates.

Seems like a no brainier to me, but IMO these same voters who didn't vote Harden to any of the three all-NBA teams last yr will vote for Westbrook.

Argument I wish people would make on TV. These aren't even hard arguments. These are easy arguments.

ESPN isn't interesting in making sound arguments. They're interested in pursuing narratives. Objectivity isn't the goal.

I understand people who think LeBron should win the MVP this year... but if you honestly believe he WILL win it this year, then you don't know how voting works.

It's between Harden and Leonard as OKC will not catch Utah for the division and we are not losing the 3rd seed. If anything I see us making a push for the 2 seed as SA rest players down the stretch being happy with that 2 seed. We won't catch the Spurs but we will not make it easy.

That argument doesn't exclusively favor Harden. It can also be applied to the Spurs and Leonard. Although they'll reach their projected win total, Leonard was the Spurs' only all-star while Aldridge had a down year and Parker/Gasol missed chunks of time.

As long as the Spurs have Greg Popovich, they will be fine and win games.

Kawhi may not have any All-Stars THIS YEAR, but man, he has former All-Stars peppered throughout the roster!

Harden is playing with a roster that with players that have never even considered to be All-Star level. (Well, maybe EGO).

It has been hilarity watching ESPN try to say how bad Westbrook's teammates are.

We have the same squad that people said would be out of the playoffs before the season started. OKC actually has a better roster now then they did before the season started where they were picked to finish better than the Rockets. Yet the argument is that Harden's teammates are better now.

    It hurts my brain.

I heard an anchor say Lebron should be MVP due to his seeding over Harden.

    ......................Checks record.

This whole ESPN propaganda has me so turned off and reminds me of that awful election cycle we just went over.

The "former all-star" argument isn't very strong either. Ginobili is going to be 40 years old this year. Right now, would you rather have 20 mpg from Ginobili or Lou Williams?

Manu. He's still pretty good and well able to make big plays in big games, i would definitely take him over Lou.

Anyway, LMA is still an all star caliber player, let's not get crazy now, his numbers are down like Pau's numbers because they play in a special enviroment, but they're still and definitely all star caliber players (LMA at least, Pau maybe just borderline).

I do agree with you that Kawhi should be considered for the MVP though, people undervalue how good he is on defense while still being one of the top 10 scorers in the league.
