    It's going to happen .

Mike better have a plan .

This is not the first team that we've played that has had success with this strategy .

Just play for the MVP. We are showcasing our team to potential free agents once we ship off Ryno to Siberia and open up cap room.

Anything past the second round is a massive bonus to this season's goals.

They had a plan. They had a plan to stop The Brow and Boogie. Boogie didn't play and it threw them off.

How can you have goals that low !?

    Or was that sarcasm ?

We may have ****ed up on ryno . No one is gonna take his deal . At this point he is just going to have to be an overpaid role player ; which is ok if the team improves .

Free agency is not the silver bullet . Most of the great teams have been homegrown .

Is Anderson so bad that we can't coach him up on what to do when he gets run off the line ?

If the goal is to revamp and lure top talent to compete for a chip then you need a chip caliber coach . Is dantoni that level ?? These types of games happen . But there needs to be an adjustment . And frankly this is not the first time we've been blown up by getting run off the line.

Yeah we just have to give up something of value .

A second rounder in the NFL (even late ) is probably equivalent to about the 15th pick in the NBA draft . We don't have a pick that good . We don't have another asset that good unless you wanna give up Beverley .

Saying , we can find a way to get rid of Ryan isn't exactly the most optimistic thing either lol .

We shouldn't forget that it was a **** up in the first place . At least so far . He could perform well in the playoffs . The season isn't over yet .

Playing well for Ryno is 1 game out of 5 where he puts up 20 points on 50% shooting and in the rest of those 4 games he puts up somewhere between 3 to 10 points on abysmal shooting with non-existent defense.

I really tried to give him a chance, but we can't have the second highest paid guy on the team do this poorly.

Also to be fair the 2nd round comment was pretty realistic goal in my opinion. Can we really beat San Antonio in a 7 game series with them having home court advantage? Unlikely.

Exactly. Everybody knows this, but nobody is willing to say it. The pace will slow, they will get run off the line and the reffs will swallow their whistle. Every one of those things will result in a poorer outcome for the rockets. They better discipline themselves, and fast.

I would be ecstatic if he put up 20 a game in the playoffs on 50 percent .

For his acquisition to be a success his playoff performance would have to be orders of magnitude better than what he has shown so far . He has only played well sporadically as you pointed out . He would have to play his best consistently for me not to think that he was a big mistake.

It could become a massive mistake depending on how we decide to address the mistake.

The pace slowing used to be true , but is actually a bit of a misconception now. The pace is determined by which team is the aggressor . If we take control of the game the pace doesn't neccesarily slow . With more teams playing uptempo the average P.O pace is pretty similar .

What happens is that more contact is allowed , and teams are more focused

People are going to deny / joke about this but it's true. It's happened against Toronto, Utah, Atlanta, San Antonio, and Memphis, and more that I can't remember off the top of my head. There is a recipe for defusing the Rockets offense.

HOWEVER - the game tonight was out of reach thanks to points in the paint for the Pelicans. That's the achilles.

And here I was thinking that teams were just going let us take wide open 3's all day . :(

I think this is more an issue than them getting run off the line. The issue is not getting run off the line so much as taking long shots and NOT getting the long rebounds. This sparks the other teams fast break points and in turn allows for a parade to the paint and basket.

This coupled with a team that shoots well in the from 3 can hurt us.

The other issue is that I do not believe we are a play from behind team when both these factors occur. We can be a sieve in the paint. Or we can give up 3's. But if we don't make ours, because getting run off the perimeter is not the issue. We didn't get run off the 3. We just didn't make the 3's we took.

Disagreeing with @snowconeman22 The Rockets don't care if you run them off. They will shoot them regardless. It's the transition that results that is the problem.

Looks like they helped on Harden less.

So Harden got his numbers but everyone else was contained

When we got "run off " we usually repositioned for 3 or passed it to another guy who would then have to do the same .

Furthermore , when we don't get run off we usually take about 50 hahaha.
