http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/news/103103_nw_BLAKE.html VAN NUYS — An attorney has been shot repeatedly in the head outside the Van Nuys courthouse where Robert Blake's case is being heard. The shooter is quoted as saying, "You took my money. That's what you get." One man is in custody. Meanwhile, inside the courtroom, conspiracy charges have just been dismissed against Robert Blakes's handyman, Earle Caldwell. A judge ruled there is nothing more than speculative evidence against Caldwell. "I cannot find a strong suspicion," Superior Court Judge Darlene Schempp said. "I think the evidence here is so speculative it carries very little weight. I simply don't find there is probable cause." Caldwell, seated in the courtroom, smiled as the decision was announced. His lawyer, Dana Cole, argued there was nothing suspicious about Caldwell's actions prior to the killing of Bonny Lee Bakley. Blake, 69, star of the old "Baretta" TV show, is awaiting trial on charges of murdering Bonny Lee Bakley, whom he married after tests showed he was the father of her daughter. The judge, however, did allow the murder charge to stand against Blake, who was ordered to trial on Feb. 9. Outside the courthouse as the hearing was under way, the person who shot an attorney was taken into custody and the courthouse was locked down. It was unclear whether the shooting was related to the case.
they just showed video of it on Channel 2. The guy just pulled out a gun and started shooting his lawyer. The lawyer ran behind a tree and started dodging. The guy with the gun then started to walk away like nothing happened until he was tackled. They said he sustained several shots to the torso. It looks like he will live though.
Did anyone laugh at the clip? It was sort of funny in a strange way. The way the guy was hiding behind the tree and how the shooter just walked off calmly and everyone was just standing around watching. Isn't this sort of like the last Seinfeld?
Even the way the shooting victim walked away almost made it appear like it was some sort of practical joke. He didn't seem all that fazed by it. I'm sure with all the adrenaline pumping from getting chased around and shot at, along with some degree of shock, he likely didn't realize he'd been hit at first.
I saw that. It was awesome. It was actually kind of scary. They showed it on tv. I like how he walked it off like it was nothing.
I saw it....its one of the most shocking things Ive ever seen. It must have been one of those moments where the lawyer was wondering if this was real or now. "Am I really dodging bullets behind a tree while this guy is trying to kill me?" If only Trinity was there to ask him how he moved like they do.
I didn't think it was too funny at all, it was actually very scary. Even though the lawyer isn't in a life-threatening situation it was still bad.
