Anyone who went want to comment on their seats? How were the sight-lines? The parking? Lots of reviews in the press but how about some "real world" comments?
The stadium is great all around the only complaint ihave is that there is only one electric escalator to get up to the upper level. The line to get to this escalator was unbeleivable to get up and it was worse coming down at the end of the game. Major problem.
Can't see the indivdual stats because of the huge speakers. It took a whole quarter to get a pizza. Other than that it was awsome.
heh, the arena was great, but i have a word of warning regarding parking. do not park in the parking garage on fanin and clay. we parked in there, and couldnt get out til a guy showed up and raised the gate for us.
I'm 6'4" and still couldn't sit comfortably due to the seats in front of me being to close. It was more room than at Compaq, but still not enough. The facility was beautiful, but they should have built exit ramps from the upper levels ala Compaq instead of having a single escaltor that you have to wait a hour to get on. I know it means a better view from the upper levels, but the stairs to my seat were so incredibly steep. I managed them just fine, but I'd hate to imagine my grandfather or a disabled person try to walk up and down them. It also took me 30 minutes to get a hot dog, but I'll chalk that up to opening night trial and error.
The stadium was awesome. There were major problems with food. I ordered a a bbq chicken sandwich and a burger, and it took more than 20 waiting in line next to the cashier line to get our food. Parking was also a problem. The lots right next to the center were $20 and they go down as you go away from the center. I was totally impressed with the stadium.
The upper deck is steap as HELL! Sight lines were all right. Seems like the escalators are the only way of getting down to the lower floor and that causes traffic jams. The floor upstairs looks like a warehouse floor. No bells and whistles for the folks up top who seem to be the loudest and most into the game.
A friend had taken me to preseason with very good tickets. At half-time, I went to the upper bowl to see what it was like. In the lower bowl, the place is great. It feels small and close. The view from the upper bowl is much different -- the place looks huge (and the court far away). The upper bowl also felt pretty dismal coming directly from the lower. It felt dark and neglected. I took an elevator to get up and down and that was slow too. I can't imagine if the place was actually full. So, a big on the lower bowl and a on the upper bowl. But, I suppose if NASA can charge $22 to get in to their place, we can't expect much from our $20 nosebleeds at TC.
i had 10 dollar seats too, and i think they are much wider than the ones in Compaq. gotta be careful to kick someone in the head though.
The only problem I had was the food lines and one escalator. I am a smoker and I had go down the escalator and all the way around the stadium to go out side to smoke at halftime. The speaker was blocking part of the player stats also and I am in 424 row 6. The other big problem was they ONLY sold liquer on the bottom level. You had fight the escalator people to go and get a drink
I was lucky enough to get seats in the Club Level. The Club Level has a lot of amenities to keep you comfy. The food was excellent, but kind of slow. You would order and pay and then go stand to the side for 5 to 10 minutes hoping that they didnt forget about you. I was embarassed by how many empty seats there were in the Club. It was opening night and we were on TNT, and I would say the side West Club was only 60% full. I was wondering if they were telling people to come and sit on the East side, which was fuller, because thats where the cameras were pointing. Most of the people in the Club had a rod up their pooper or their neck tie was too tight, and they didnt cheer until the fourth quarter, right before they left early. It seemed a lot quieter than the Summit. Mo Taylor said he wants this to be one of the loudest arenas in the L, not a chance. The new MC was just a little too fake, and really didnt do enough to get the fans up. I think he could have done a way better job, the Summit announcer was better. I know we are the Worlds fattest city, but would it hurt some of you to exert some energy to cheer on your team? There is about 3 times more Power Dancers, some hot and some not. We should really pay these girls some more money so we could lure more of the better looking ones. I heard they get paid near sweatshop wages. "Quality not Quantity" is my motto. The Drum Nerds were there and Clutch came out on the motorcycle, again, but no Turbo . I think I saw Mini Clutch though and that was a bonus! Nonetheless I was impressed with the arena and hopefully most of these kinks will work themselves out over time. I was a little upset that opening night wasnt dedicated to Rudy T.
section 417 row 15, great view from the upper deck but there is no room for your feet. it feels very crunched. me and my bro took the stairs cause that escalator line was long but for 10 dollars it was worth it. i saw hott chicks, a great game, and waited only 10 min. in line for nachos and a drink.
