[Free Upgrade] Anyone flying American Airlines internationally before the end of the month?

    I have one American Airlines Systemwide Upgrade expiring on 2/28. It's good for a one-way upgrade to business class on a paid economy ticket (no award tickets with mileage redemption). This upgrade is also only valid on flights operated by American Airlines, not partner airlines (i.e. British Airways, etc.).

    If interested, post your itinerary here. I'll call the airline and upgrade whoever has the furthest flight. There are some very good fares available out of Houston before this deadline, for example.

    It's still valid on domestic travel, but not nearly as valuable. For example, the flight deal I linked to in the OP shows a $867 roundtrip fare from Houston to LA to Auckland, New Zealand. This upgrade would put you in business class on a 14-hour flight from LA to New Zealand (and from Houston to LA).

    Flight must be taken by 2/28.

    That deal to Auckland looks gone, can't pull it up on Google Flights...

    Any chance AA would extend it one day? If nobody steps up with an international itinerary to apply it towards I would make a decent donation to clutchfans in exchange.

    Just was in Singapore and flew United's SFO-SIN service on the 787, it wasn't too bad in econ+ but being up front in business definitely would have made it entirely more enjoyable.

    I'll give it through the weekend to see if anyone else with a longer flight turns up. Also, being a contributing member is a prereq (there's no guarantee the upgrade will clear, even if applied).

    eh, flying American to Athens, Greece on Sunday. Too bad I already booked in the business class cabin (no first available on the plane).

    I think you can't actually fly from LA to New Zealand, as it's not possible on our flat world and would lead to you being trapped in another dimension.

    They have the flight information online, but once you book the flight you'll be picked up by the NASA police and never be heard from again.

    I just called AA asking if they can make a one time courtesy exception for upgrading a flight on March 1st and they said 2/28 is a hard deadline.
