Thanks for your optimistic post Bobliu. But here are some other equations and inequalities to consider: Kobe + Shaq = @!$%** age of Malone + age of Payton > Methusaleh + The Pope JJ> George Mobley > Rapist > Jailed Rapist Francis = Western Conference Starter > Payton
Don't live in the past any more, rox fans. It's time to move on. Hopefully Steve and Yao can bring Rings for H-town
Hakeem > Shaq Chuck >= Mailman Bob = Rob Glyde < KB8 Pip =< Glove Overtime thriller! Robert Horry hits game winning 3 at the buzzer.
i dont know about kobe in his prime being better than clyde in his prime. dont forget that clyde averaged over 27 pts a game for a few seasons.
The answer may not have anything to do with the players listed on either team. The answer likely rests in who does the officiating. If any officiating crew allows Shaq to get away with his pet move of rocking into the defender to clear space, he is unstoppable. If the officials call this for the dislodging charge that it is...close game...Dream's Team in 7.
some of u are too blind to see the truth. i like hakeem to, but there is no way he could match up with Shaq's power . he could maybe out quick Shaq, but no way can out muslce him.
I agree Hakeem cannot match Shaq in strength. It's obvious. In which case I would favour this line-up against the LA line-up proposed: PF- Hakeem v Malone big edge Hakeem SF- Horry v Horry edge even C- Yao v Shaq edge Shaq SG- Drexler v Kobe edge even PG- Cassell v Payton edge Payton Although the match-ups favour LA, if Yao limits Shaq to 25-15 while Hakeem mermaids Malone into joining the Navy by torching him for 40+, I reckon the the Rox will win.
Perhaps your all-seeingness does not remember watching The Dream abuse Shaq like a child in the 95 finals? Shaq worshipers always love to forget that. Shaq doesn't.
I would definitely leave Pippen off of the list. I do not consider him to ever been a Rocket. I liike this Rocket line up better. Casel Francis Drexler Barkley Hakeem
i really cant believe hakeem doesnt even get any love in a rockets message board. its as if the 95 finals never happened. but then again, some idiots on here think yao is better than wilt chamberlain
Head to Head against big men Hakeem beat Jabbar and Robinson for the Western conference title. He beat Ewing and Shaq for his championship. Shaq beat Robinson, Mutombo, that Dutch Guy (I’m blank on his name), and lost to Hakeem. Hakeem is a better individual defender, team defender, and is a more versatile scorer. Probably a wash at rebounding. If the Refs call charges, Shaq loses a big chunk of his offensive game and between that and Dreams moves Shaq fouls out. Refs let Shaq charge to the rim as usual then Hakeem probably fouls out. Saw Shaq's game against Mutombo, I’m not a basketball expert, but if you’re the offensive player and you lift a stationary defensive player off the ground with your shoulder isn’t that a charge? (Although Earl Cambel also had success with that move.) PS I really wonder if some of you commenting on how Shaq would torch Hakeem, ever actually saw Dream in his prime.
I don't understand why people keep saying that Hakeem wouldn't be able to handle Shaq. Didn't they see the '95 Finals? Exactly how has Shaq's game changed since then? More bunions? Even Shaq has said he didn't become the best center in the NBA until Hakeem retired. On a side note, does anyone remember that PPV deal where Hakeem and Shaq were supposed to play one-on-one? It was promoted right after the '95 finals. Whatever happened to that...
"On a side note, does anyone remember that PPV deal where Hakeem and Shaq were supposed to play one-on-one? It was promoted right after the '95 finals. Whatever happened to that..." Don't remember why they didn't do it, but I think Dr. J. and Jabbar played each other instead.
