worked this on the trade machine: Cavs get beverly, harrell Pacers get Dekker, Ariza, Gordan, picks from houston and cleveland Rockets get shumpert and george, seraphim sign chalmers harden/chalmers shumpert/williams george/shumpert anderson/nene capela/seraphin
More than 10 I'm sure, but probably most of them that happen at the deadline will be smallish deals. I'm sure the Rockets have at least one more smallish deal to accomplish if not two. As long as Bobby Brown is still on the roster, there is a deal to be made.
The earliest 1st round pick we could send them is in 2019...Celtics and Lakers can do a lot better than us
Spoiler Trade assets How do the Rockets, with a 40-18 record and a firm grasp on the No. 3 seed, improve without touching their core pieces? While the cost of a 2017 first-round pick seems high because of the strong draft class, the risk is manageable because the Rockets could contend for a spot in the conference finals. Houston also has the contract of K.J. McDaniels (team option in 2017-18) and 2017 second-round picks from the Nuggets and Trail Blazers as the deadline approaches. The Rockets have their future first-round picks and the draft rights of former second-round picks Zhou Qi, Alessandro Gentile and Marko Todorovic. GM history at the deadline Morey’s approach at the deadline can best be described as “hitting singles.” The focus in the past has been on improving the bench and adding future draft assets, and Morey did boost depth with the Williams acquisition. Since taking over in 2007, Morey has made 14 deadline deals (including the Williams trade), acquiring role players McDaniels, Pablo Prigioni, Francisco Garcia, Marcus Camby and Derek Fisher. While Houston often has taken a conservative approach, Morey has not been afraid to risk future first-round picks, such as in his 2011 trade with Phoenix to acquire Goran Dragic and the Williams deal. Deadline deals have also allowed Houston to use those draft assets in future trades. As part of the James Harden trade in October 2012, Houston sent Oklahoma City a future first from Dallas. Eight months before, the Rockets obtained that pick when Jordan Hill was traded to the Lakers. Post-trade deadline roster movement The Rockets have 15 guaranteed contracts. Expect Houston to be active as the March 1 waiver buyout approaches. With only the minimum exception available, the Rockets would need to waive a player to create a roster spot.
Correct and not doubting this. Lakers can do better, but maybe they are determined to not get rid of Ingram, who I'm pretty sure the Pacers would want back in return. And if the Pacers have any desire to compete in the next decade, it'd be dumb to help out a conference rival like the Celtics. Do they really want to give Boston the missing piece to getting them another couple of championships? This is the part I think everyone is ignoring when it comes to Indiana dealing with Boston. But hey, it's a pipe dream, and I'll just keep on enjoying the buds.
I'm sure they are very happy for other stars, but they were absolutely guiding things in their own personal best interests. Things like cap smoothing, over 36 rule, etc. were all things they guided the narrative on for their own benefit.
I like the idea of picking up Tyson Chandler by rolling him into the Lou Williams deal. To make it work, you would have to send out KJ, Ennis, Wiltjer and Harrell To Lakers Brewer Wiltjer Hou 2017 #1 To Phoenix Ennis McDaniels Harrell Hou 2017 #2 To Houston Williams T. Chandler Beverley / Gordon / Jones Harden / Williams Ariza / Dekker Anderson / Chandler / Capella / Nene Maybe try and pick up Patrick Patterson in the offseason with the MLE.
Darren Wolfson Heard Muhammad is another player on Houston's radar. Sure many are. Doesn't sound like anything is close. #twolves
Rockets looking at guards too much imo...starting to think there's more going on... Nope, Wolfson is legit, Gery Woelfel is the "fraud"
Its negotiating. Making it seem like the player others want is untouchable to entice offers they otherwise wouldn't get. On today of all days, I refuse to believe anyone (maybe other than Harden) is untouchable. Tomorrow, yes. Today. No.
yeah Wolfson is pretty reliable. If I'm not wrong he was saying one week ago or so that they were trying to trade Shabbaz to the Knicks or Magic or smth. So they have been shopping him for quite some time now. Now Thibs is interested in getting Rose back mostly though.
