Some Clutchfans are surprised that a deal centered around Capela and Dekker wasn't enough to land Cousins. Never change Clutchfans never change.
what?? They are making this move cause they are tanking and want to keep that top 10 pick from chicago. They've gone full blast on rebuild because they can't win with Cousins. I doubt Buddy has anything to do with this except being someone to trade.
I was just responding to someone saying the Rox can beat that offer easily. Celtics can beat that offer, but Rockets dont have an asset close to Hield. Sure Sacramento wants to rebuild but they will still trade Cousins for the best deal available.
Yeah, it has to suck pretty hard being a Kings fan. I mean, just imagine if they had kept Isaiah Thomas. They would have two of the top 4 scorers in the NBA right now and would probably be a top 6 team in the west at least.
This is how I view things -DMC wanted to stay (mostly for the money), but wasn't fully committed and happy with the team. -Kings weren't committed to Cousins anymore. Wanted to trade him for something. -Cousins said that if you trade me then let it be known that I won't guarantee re-signing with any team. -Other teams understood this and feared trading assets for a rental. -Kings no longer had leverage. Had a player they didn't want, and teams weren't going to trade no where equal value. -Celtics were likely in the mix, but Ainge was very selfish with his assets. They were out. -Lakers were in the mix, but weren't going to trade Ingram. They were out. -Heard Suns were in the mix, but I guess Chriss or Bender weren't on the block. They were out. -Pelicans offered Hield, an expiring Evans, and a 1st which is the best Sacramento found. -Vivec felt he had no choice but to trade Boogie. Pelicans offer was the best offer. -Kings traded a whole dollar for 25 cents. -Pelicans are banking on Cousins and Davis working out with Cousins re-signing. Hopefully make a play off push and give GSW a battle. Now, as a Rockets fan? I don't think our offer would have been better unless we gutted our entire team, and obviously chemistry is at an all time high. You can't mess with that unless it's a sure thing. Cousins flat out isn't a sure thing. Sorry Rockets fans. There was nothing we can do about this.
For those of you who say that we should have offered more to get Cousins instead: how would Cousins fit within our D'Antoni and Harden-centric offense? How would going from Capella to Cousins impact our defense, and would that be made up for by the improvement, if any, in our offense? Finally, would Cousins's production on the court outweigh his negatives in the locker room? This doesn't even take into account the salary cap and continuity considerations.
No doubt. Buddy is already a bust. 36% FG shooter that does little else. a 1st round pick that's top 3 protected!!
Hield isn't that young. He's a 23 year old rookie. If you were talking about Devin Booker I could completely understand, but Hield came out as a senior and hasn't had a great showing. Embiid was drafted in 2014 and is still younger than Hield. You don't even want to know what Harden was putting up at his age.
I'm a little fuzzy on how the whole CBA works but isn't it technically collusion for a player or agent or current team to tell potential trade suitors whether or not the player being traded will want to sign long term for that team? I mean, isn't that what no trade clauses are for? Someone with better knowledge of the CBA care to chime in here?
If a Point Center who has scored 50, gotten multipe triple doubles, shoots 3s, dominates inside, and almost a starter for the All-Star game isn't a sure thing, I don't know what is.
You do know Buddy is a rookie right? I think the kings were looking to get potential. You are right though, we do have those assets. The question is were the Rockets willing to give that up for him?
Damn, man. Sometimes I feel really bad for BBholic. It seems like every other day on here I see another poster who has him sigged for saying something irrational like that.
