They might be able to move Ajinca for a backup SG or something. He at least has a trade-able contract.
I think so, and the main reason is because we've been trying to move these "assets" to simply get better draft picks lately and it's never enough. If we wanted Hield or the pick used to draft him last summer that entire package would not have been enough.
For those I've been debating with: That's really all that matters. We don't have a prospect like that amongst our assets.
I guarantee he resigns. Why wouldn't he want to play alongside Anthony Davis for his prime? Cousins is from the South too, this is perfect for him.
he would've been another dwight in the locker room for us. more talented but not worth that locker room mess. maybe his friend from college can keep him in line? that's what the pels are betting on. if they can add some shooters at the 2/3 their big 3 of DMC/AD/holiday can be dangerous. i'm interested in picking up galloway or casspi if waived. maybe the pels would be interested in KJ for ajinca now that they have a logjam at center and need wings?since the kings are going full rebuild now, maybe they'd be willing to flip koufos for KJ (with brewer added to match salary? just my thoughts on how we can benefit from all this.
Good luck with that guarantee. They have no backcourt or wings, and no cap flexibility or assets to trade for or sign them. $60 million tied up in their front court between Cousins, AD, Asik and Ajinca...and that's only if you don't call Solomon Hill a "big". Otherwise, $70 million.
Man, Pels could be very dangerous now. We're about to find out how things look on Thursday. Not looking forward to Capela/RyBo guarding Cousins/AD.
I am glad the Rockets didn't trade for him he scares the **** out of me. It could implode on them and we really don't know if they can make 2 bigs work in this small ball era.
Morey should be on the phone to Langston Galloway's agent right now. Would much prefer him getting minutes over Brewer
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ee-deal-demarcus-cousins-new-orleans-pelicans Not that they were some free agent hot bed but good luck with future free agents or future "franchise" players! The Pelicans were very close to a deal for Jahlil Okafor about 10 days ago, sources told Shelburne, offering a similar package that didn't include Hield. But the deal fell apart over differences on the protections of the first-round pick involved. The Pelicans will need to add backcourt depth after this trade. Sources indicate the majority of the minutes will go to Tim Frazier. But New Orleans also has an interesting option in D-Leaguer Quinn Cook. League sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes that the Pelicans are now seeking a trade partner for forward Terrence Jones, a mutual decision on behalf of the team and Jones' camp. The Los Angeles Lakers were also engaged in Cousins trade talks with the Kings, but felt Sacramento's asking price was too high, a source told Shelburne. The Kings told the Lakers that without 2016 No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram, they weren't interested. Sources say talks didn't progress much further than that.
Ok this goes against what I said earlier but upon thinking about it, maybe we couldn't have beaten that offer. The most important asset we'd be giving up would be Capela and imo part of the reason the Kings pulled the trigger is cause they want to see whathe WCS could do and would thus have no use for capela whatsoever. So if you take Clint out of the equation, their pick easily beats our pick and anyone not wearing Homer glasses can see that buddy has a higher ceiling than anyone we can give. It's still a crap trade but it's better than anything we could offer.
This whole thing reeks of collusion but whatever. Now that the Kings are officially blowing it up and don't seem to care much about what they get in return the Rockets should inquire about Koufos or Cauley-Stein.
lol. wow They went from demanding Brandon Ingram to settling for Hield, The Tyreke Experiment Sequel, and a 1st. Those Kings sure know how to negotiate.
Pelicans have 8 bigs: AD, Cousins, Jones, Diallo, Motiejunas, Casspi, Ajinca, and Asik This is the most "morey" thing from a non-morey Gm I've seen in my life. (Esp the trade that got boogie)
