Last night on Fox sports, Padgett said he's been wanting to come to Houston for the last five years now. Look's like he finally got his wish. Let's see what he brings to the table. BTW, one of his proudest moments is when he had a monster jam over Olajuwon. They played the reel like three times.

It's pretty simple actually. The Rockets have always liked former Jazz players. Shandon Anderson, Antoine Carr, John Ameachi, Scot Padgett, the list goes on... Funny though, they always wind up being better in Utah than they were in Houston. Weird huh.

I was throwing out some old Playboys and saw a college hoops preview. The article started with your typical shot of multiple players. Lined up were (I'm sure I'm missing some, this is from memory): Michael Finley, Damon Stoudamire, Bryant Reeves, Othella Harrington, Cherokee Parks, and... John Amaechi (listed as a scholar athlete)

So the story goes in Utah that John Amaechi is a scholar first and basketball player second. They say that he doesnt really like basketball but he plays so that he will be able to pursue his Doctorate. I think that its great that he is continuing his education, but I bet by the end of the year his lack of interest in Bball will shine through. Furthermore if an intelligent player is disliked in Utah than there has got to be something wrong with him.

I hope that he is a good role player, I will try to be optomistic. If he shrinks a cup size than I say to keep him.

Magazines are a PITA when you're moving. Besides, who needs bulky magazines when you have the internet? ;)

I agree with those that say that all the new free agent additions combined this year make a big enough ploop plop to create a little water splash that hits your ass.

WOW!! A 4 page thread for a 11th or 12th man! Can you tell that we are all in the basketball mood already?! I think this is a good pickup because he gives us insurance for Griffin. Except for the defense, I think Padgett could adequately do all the things Eggie could do and without the high expectations. And if he doesn't pan out, then who cares because he's supposed to be at the end of the bench anyways. I hope he does make a splash because he's always struck me as a hard-nosed gym rat.

And if anyone else is throwing out old Playboys, I'll be more than happy to recycle them for you! :D

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but eddie's name is no longer listed on the roster at rockets.com. Padgett could be filling the void there, at least for a while.

If anyone can provide me with a quote where Les or CD said that we were going to make a big splash with offseason roster moves, I would be tickled pink.

    Thanks.

i actually feel that scott padgett would give us some valuable minutes as a houston rocket. he can play both power and small forward. he would be a decent role player.

This idea of evaluating players by looking at their stats demonstrates how non-basketball fans examine front office moves.

Scott Padgett was a baller at Kentucky and did very well in his first couple of years at Utah. If you had bothered to follow his progress by actually watching him play in college and in the NBA then a simple stat analysis will not treat him fairly. People never seem to forget how stats and influenced by playing time and how three point percentage is influeneced by the presence of a good low post player. Karl's effectiveness dropped off dramatically last year.

This is another reason why people who watched Cuttino at Rhode Island are not surprised at all by his success in the NBA. The same thing goes for Eduardo Najera, I can't believe the Rockets traded him. I remember how he played for Oklahome in the NCAA's with a broken nose and was MVP of the game.
