Not me. The Libertarian/Economic Conservative in me hates to see something like that. What makes this especially bothersome is that the money would go directly to benefit the President.

The President is certainly underpaid compared to what the job entails, but it isn't supposed to be about the perks.

 

I get your point, but the material perks are not so great that anyone is going to aim for the job because of the material perks.

Obviously there should be limitations, but I don't think the office perks are at that level.

I know it rubs your libertarian values the wrong way...... I just think that both parties are about the same on those issues, and that we have bigger things to worry about.

To all the others, fine be outraged I don't disagree but there is tons government waste so you better get to posting. You could start with 200k spent by NSF to find out why Wikipedia is sexist. Or maybe the 387k to the NIH for Swedish massages for rabbits. My personal fav because it's related to Houston and the med center, the USDA spending almost 1million to create an app called "Kiddio: Food Fight!." That's right, a cool million to develop a shitty app. Listen the only point I was making is that this will get lost in all of the other outrage so save your energy because a Western White House isn't that big of a deal in comparison. This is normal. The terms of service of the SS includes protection of the president and his family, without terms on up to how much. This would obviously scale to however big his family is and how expensive their residency is. We just have an extraordinary circumstance of an incredibly posh president. Afaik, the SS aren't allowed donations and rent is included in that so they're mandated to pay the landlords, in this case, Trump himself.

That's just how it works.
