Great win tonight. Steve with almost a triple-double, Mo Taylor with 21 points and 9 rebounds, and Cuttino with 22 points. Also Carlos played a great game as well and as I said before so many times if he gets minutes he will produce. I like him coming off the bench before Kenny, especially when we need to go big. And by the way those of you who chastized me when I said that one day Rudy would realize this, looks like he did.

And as for Cuttino, what else can you say? Yeah he was 4 of 15, but when we needed a goto man in the 4th who does Rudy call on? The Cat. He was like 14 of 14 from the ft line since he became agressive in going to the basket. I just wish he would do that all the time because he is either gonna get fouled or finish with the layup or dunk. Another reason I want the ball in his hands at the end of the game. What a luxury to have a Cuttino or a Francis to go to at the end of the game.

Again, great win and lets keep it up. Oh yeah one good thing too was that Mo was able to rest the whole 4th quarter since Carlos did so well.

14-14? Wow. I couldn't make 14-14 unguarded layups. That is amazing.

And this is also the best FT shooting game any Rocket has had (without missing) - The Glide had the old Record with 13-13...

A very Iverson-esque line. Lots of questionable shots, and a great day at the free throw line saves him from an embarassing game.

Why won't he ever pass the ball to Shandon? Any pass Cat ever makes is to Francis, or if Rudy demands it, he'll try (TRY) to get it down in the block for Dream.

THAT was beautiful. i feel no need to respond to that ridiculous criticism.

    Toast:

the ball usually needs to be in the hands of people who can

    a) shoot or
    b) dribble

neither of which does shandon do well. shandon is an opportunity offensive player, not a focal point. so yea, he will pass the ball to shandon; however, it will likely be when shandon has a clear advantage or an uncontested shot. if shandon getting the pass means shandon having to create a shot, then shandon better dive to the hole, cause he ain't gettin' that shot!

that said, i'd like to see shandon get 1 or 2 postups every game. no more than that, but enough to keep his defender honest.

Yeah, but be honest here. How many times have you seen a fast break opportunity with Francis trailing Mobley, and Shandon running next to Mobley on the wing. The ball ALWAYS goes to Francis.

I'm just saying during games, if I were someone like Shandon or a wide open Wiz in the corner behind the 3 point line, I'd be pretty frustrated that when Mobley has the ball he either chunks it in the direction of the goal, drives the lane looking for a foul, or passes it off to Francis. Sure, I'm overgeneralizing a bit. And don't get me wrong, I think Mobley is extremely talented, and generates lots of points in our offense, but either he doesn't see the court well, or just isn't looking for some players. Our championship years were so great because of unselfish plays. It started with Dream, and the ball just moved around until someone was so open they had to shoot it. Didn't matter if it was Kenny Smith or Robert Horry ... if you were wide open you took the shot. If you weren't you found someone who was.

At least the best FT shooting game for any Rocket whose name anyone on this board would remember.

look again Heath. The Chron has it as a tie.

as for the fast breaks, what annoys me is not his not passing to shandon. what annoys me is his not making the simple pass. the spectacular is not always the intelligent.

and that applies to steve, too. and it would apply to shandon but...but...he can't dribble. more like drivel. [IMG] [IMG]

You're right. Steve does it to. It's like they're looking for the highlight reel instead of the easy basket.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, "Cat only passes to Steve." I can recall, especially of late, a lot of Cat's assists(and I know they are few) going to Shandon Anderson.

Maybe that's why Shandon's points are so scarce? ;-)

You know Toast, I don't know why you don't like Mobley, but I doubt that Mobley is keeping Shandon from scoring. You just can't enjoy success, we're winning the freaking games, I mean my god!

I don't dislike Mobley, but I think he's a little selfish. I would like to see him get other players more involved in the offense. If he did that, I would be a much bigger Mobley fan.

Right now, I get the impression that he's a bit of a ballhog. Not as bad as the Vernmiester, who was a blackhole -- once you gave him that ball, you'd never see it again -- but sometimes he has that ball, and you can just look at him and tell it doesn't matter what happens, he's gonna hurl it up at the basket.

Of course, when it goes in, I usually think it was an excellent shot ;-)

Ok - I didn't remember crap - I just repeated what they said on the radio broadcast. And they claimed it was the best, but could not be 100% sure. Ok, I maybe should have mentioned that - but then again ... it's no big deal. I think 14-14 is good anyway [IMG]

Cuttino's not that great. He only takes over games against mediocre teams. His shot selection is terrible. And his selfishness will only hurt the club in the long run. Forty-two minutes, no assists...any Rocket would average 19 a game on 20 shots.

Mobley averages 15.18 attempts per game for his 19.23 ppg average. That probably leads the team since Francis averages 15.067 attempts per game.

However, Mobley makes 1.27 points per attempt. On the Rockets, Francis (1.33), Rogers (1.66), and Cato (1.33) are more efficient. Can any Rocket score as much as he does with as many shots as he gets? Francis, our superstar, obviously can. Cato and Rogers are as efficient as they are because they only shoot when opportunity demands and could not keep that up at 896 attempts on the season. In fact, they probably have the worst reputations on the team on scoring.

Other players? Olajuwon shoots 49.34% but only makes 1.21 ppa. Williams makes 1.15 ppa. Our sweet-shooting big man, Maurice Taylor, who shoots 49% from the field, makes 1.12 ppa.

Obviously Francis and Mobley are our scorers. They score the most and the most efficiently. Mobley can get to the line like nobody's business (he leads the team in attempts and makes). His 14-14 shooting the other day is what makes him a great scorer. He may look boneheaded sometimes, but he's obviously doing something right.
