A 42.3% 3-point shooter on a team with bad spacing wouldn't help us here? I don't get that. Seth would easily get minutes on this team
Seth Curry sucks the sweat off his brother's nuts, now that's salty. Seriously, Seth is like Wiltjer - weak, slow footed, no athleticism, one dimensional except he's foot shorter. For a guy in a point guard's body, he completely lacks point guard skills or ability to defend (his lateral agility is so poor, length and athleticism so lacking that he doesn't even have potential to get better at this area).
Exactly how many back up point guards do we have that shoot over 42%? If your answer is zero, it means you wrote 3 paragraphs of crap.
I guess so man, I think he's actually pretty quick. For what we need off the bench, the things that he does bring would help us. Excellent catch and shoot-er, crafty with the ball in his hands and can create for himself. How are Tyler Ennis' "point guard" skills working out for us btw?
Where were you in January? Team completely lost it's ability to shoot the 3 like they did in December due to injuries, fatigue, rust, etc. If Rockets had another guy who could light it up from 3 (obviously not including Wiltjer, who's in someone's doghouse) backing up Gordon when he was hurting then January could have been somewhat salvaged. Rockets do not need another body at 4 more than they need a rim protecting 5, another shooter who can also facilitate behind Harden-Gordon-Beverley and a 3-D wing to back up Ariza when he's tired or to keep Brewer nailed to the bench.
I'd take Seth "Ball Sweat" Curry over Tyler "human penis" Ennis any day. I can't defend Ennis to save my life, you got me there. But Seth is a Mav so point is moot, if not salty.
I believe tired legs and overuse from heavy minutes is a real not imagined issue. And sometimes just low-level FRESH LEGS off the bench in limited minutes is all you need to keep everyone fresh and to keep the flow going. Rockets 2 years ago were winning with rookie Tarik Black, Kostas Papanikolau and the venerable Joey Dorsey getting EARLY playing time. They werent THAT much a liability. Give those same guys to D'Antoni now, and they'd get played only twice a month or never. That does NOT mean that Rockets dont need to upgrade the talent. They very much do. Its just about not wearing down your players and keeping a couple fatigue related L's off the team record.
Papa Nick, Black and Joey were all hustle players who did all the dirty work and did not look for offense first. Loved their energy and attitude, very refreshing. Need 1 or 3 of those kind of role players coming off the bench, could not agree more.
Ibaka doesn't create as much space for James to do his magic as Ryno does. Ibaka has to start at the 5 spot and go back to being who he was defensively in 2013. He can get his touches in PnR or PnP and occasionally the 3 pointer. If he's not good with that, then he's of no use to the Rockets. This enhanced role on offense he's been crying about for years was there for him in Orlando and he shat the bed bad. When a offense first center like Vucevic is more efficient on D than ibaka, that's a sure sign that something is amiss.
Only having 3 dependable rotation players at PG/SG is our main issue. If we upgraded Ennis's spot, we could lower the minutes of Harden, Beverly and Gordon. This would give them more rest and limit exposure to injury. Chalmers could be a good pickup there. Dekker can slide to SF when needed to backup Ariza and we are 3 deep at PF and C with Harrell playing both. We need small changes/upgrades.
I agree, and one of the big failures of the past couple seasons was a failure to open up the depth chart. I don't think this means you go full tard and play 3rd stringers 20 minutes a game. It means hey, start Onuaku and let him play full bore for 5-10 minutes. Find 5 minutes for KJ McDaniels every other game. Put Wiltjer in and see if he can get hot from 3. Let Ennis spell Beverley for 5 minutes every other game. Because right now, whatever people want to say "Tyler Anus HARHARHAR" He'd be as good as a thoroughly exhausted Beverley for 5 minutes. KJ McDaniels could easily be a wing defender and give Ariza who has as little explosion as I've ever seen him have a break. 5-10 minutes. Every 2nd or 3rd game. The question isn't why, the question is why not?
Agree with everything but sliding Dekker to SF. He is a defensive liability there, and when he goes cold on offense, he provides nothing.
