Huh, a big that stands tall and clogs the lane, doesn't even have to be a shot blocker, just one who is a good rotator who can be a true 7 footer.

Maybe we can find one in the D league?

nobody in the NBA is scared of a guy just bc he happens to be "7ft" if he's not even a shot blocking threat. That logic is false

you can't hear it, but these guys are all acting out "DMo is always the answer" . . . just note how the one who is imitating DMo is totally dominating the game.

Brewer and our 2017 first round pick for Bogut. Gives us a rental rim protector and clears a lot of space for this summer for the free agent chase.

    Agreed!

In all of our losses this month with exception to the Heat, the opposing team shot over 51%. Our paint defense is bad. 5 out of the last 9 games teams are shooting over 51%, Jeff Bzdelik has his work cut out for him.

We don't have the personnel. Capela is our best defensive big and he's slowly coming back and he's not great by any means but is above average. Harrell has the effort but not the height or length or IQ. NeNe is old.

Nene has always been a soft defender. What he brings is true size with a jumper at the 4/5.

So fast your head would spin.

But would Cuban, wouldn't we have to toss in a sweetener like KJ or a pick?

I'm glad he used the word "soft." He's probably also thinking "tired legs", as that describes what he's saying, too, but it gives the team an excuse.

    We're just SOFT.

Love it. He's absolutely right. However I can see that they're as deflated on offense as they are on defense so I agree with @heypartner they are tired as hell. If he's saying it in the media then they've already talked about it with the team and hammered it home. Good to see MDA being specific about where we've been lacking.

I agree. It's exhausting to watch the Rox grab KEY rebounds...so if it's exhausting for me it's gonna be exhausting for them LOL

MDA can say they're tired which is true I'm sure HOWEVER Rox current roster of players are not gonna get any bigger or taller in the paint

I agree this is the biggest problem for the Rockets. i just don't see it being easily solved for the long term. Tyson Chandler is probably the answer but for how long? Chandler will turn 35 this year. Do we want to give up our few assets for a guy that might start a steep decline in the next season?

Also, the best defense in the NBA doesn't have a traditional "rim protector". Many teams play so many shooters that they force the switch which pulls the big away from the rim. In this instance versatile wing defenders are the real difference maker. I think the rockets need to consider using our assets to pick up a versatile 2/3 that can play decent perimeter defense and score off of Harden, particularly when Gordon is banged up.
