Rockets fans love hard work and hustle. Cato is giving both and we are giving the love. We would trade EG right now for a cup of coffee at a NA meeting. But hard work and hustle will bring Eddie the love too.
Thats cuz KATOMIC bomb is proving that he has heart and desire. THere was never a question about his talent, we all knew he had it in him. He also had a great body for banging. The only thing that lacked was desire. He looked as if he didnt care about the game, a lot like Egriff. But the arrival of yao has lit a fire under kato's a$$ and he's playing like he has some serious heart now, endearing him to the hearts of rocket fans.
Yes, because he can rebound, something the other PF's failed to do. Also, we already know Cato was considered overpayed and overrated last year (while playing limited mins). Well, now that he gets more minutes, let him work for his money.
Cato should start power forward without a doubt. We will already have 4 scores on the floor in: Steve, Yao, Jim Jackson, and (Pike or Cat). Cato is the most proven Rebounder, brute enforcer, as well as junk basket maker. In addition to all of this he shots at a high percentage and knows how to play his role. Anyone who thinks Taylor should start should get his or her head examined. Taylor has a few offensive moves; I’ll give him that. However, his lack of defense, rebounding, and low points per shot indicates he is not a very efficient player.
I believe Cato should do both. He has shown that he can hold down the 4 spot in certain matchups and give the Rockets the hustle and boards we need. But I also greatly value his role as our backup center (giving us the best center tandem in the league). Another reason is the drop off from Cato to Mo Taylor at PF is slight if any, but the drop off from Cato to Amechi at backup center is ridiculous.
Yes he should start. For the people that wanted Ben Wallace on the Rockets, here's your man. He blocks, he hustles, he rebounds and does all the small things. He's dropped weight and is more mobile then last year and it's obvious since he was doing a good job guarding around the perimeter against other perimeter oriented PF's.
MO should start with Cato off the bench, coz i would rather have MO at the 4 at any time then Amaechi at the 5...
I'm in the do both group. JVG is going to switch positions depending on the team we're playing and potential match-ups. We've got quite a few "tweeners" and that fits into JVG's system: Cato: 4/5 JJ: 2/3 Pike: 2/3 AG: 2/3 Stevie: 1/2 Moochie: 0/-1 Can Amaechi play PF if needed (say if Cato and MoT both need rest at the same time)? This is assuming EG isn't around. Speaking of, I think EG is a 3/4 player. I've always thought he's better as a SF.
I voted for both, and I think CoinToss makes has described an excellent rotation that could work very well. If Yao and/or Cato get in foul trouble we always have Amaechi and Braggs to play a little.. they're serviceable.
I voted for both because I don't like the possibility of Cato getting in early foul trouble as our starting 4, jeapardizing the flow of the game by not having him sub for Yao during crucial parts of the game at the 5. Cato deserves to start as the PF and is better suited for the team's chemistry on court because he takes high percentage shots, he gives Yao a comfort zone in the paint, and he's just the kind of selfless scavenger in the paint that balances out the other starters who need a lot of good looks/FGA's to get in rythm. Matchups would have to dictate whether he starts or not and JVG knows this....Take away the possibility of early foul trouble for Cato and I'd start him as long as he continues to hustle and play smart and within the team concept. I'm feelin' Cato as our starting PF....
This is an accurate description of Rudy's 4/5 rotation over many years. Ming/Cato/Taylor ain't Hakeem/Barkley/Willis, but hey.
Is Van Gundy a match-ups coach? Looking at the other teams strengths and designing the rotation for the best match-ups. If so, I'll say both. Also, If Cato is going to spend a lot of time at the 4 though we need a better back up at C than that Italian dude.
