Shucks, I'm hardly that. The real heroes here are posters like Clutch, BimaThug, J.R., heypartner, and so many more, that make us smarter for their contributions. I'm more like a lazy sort of op-ed guy. What I lack in smarts or knowledge though I try to make up for in team spirit.
Nah, I think you're one of the smarter posters here and I read many posts since joining and even before that. I do appreciate the humility, though. Dude likes humility.
You want to have shots filtered to the fourth and fifth best offensive player. With Ariza, this is playing with fire. Some nights he cant, some nights he kills you. Same thing with the center position. Clint and Harrell have been making people pay more often than not. The other side of the coin is the old Hakeem Strategy. Let him torch you all night long but make sure he cannot distribute. So, let Harden go one on one all night, and try to close everyone else out. Easy to talk about, very hard to accomplish.
That's my point, any team with length is a bad matchup for us, unless we go super small or pickup another big
I don't know about Bass. The Rockets already have Capela & Harrell. Celtics fans are braying about the need for a defensive C with height. The Rockets have that same need...
Harden struggles against tall physical defenders who can stay in front of him one-on-one allowing the rest of the team to close off the 3point shooters. If you can take away Harden's drive (not easy) and stay true on the 3 point shooters and Capela, it does seem to be somewhat effective.
Treble and a shark that stays under the water? Treble is Smoove? J-Smoove plays for the Sichaun Blue Whales...
@Codman ... why do I have a feeling Morey could be targeting Boban Marjanovic. "one that doesn't seem to fit." "enforcer" "coMING" (Yao-like)
If I want to beat Houston, I'm going to play man defense the whole series and test Harden's endurance. I'd play ball denial for every other player and tempt Harden to try to beat you every play. If you can keep Harden's assists under 8, the team is very beatable and Harden is uncomfortable. He likes to create for others. When Harden goes out of the game, I'm sagging off the weakest 3 point shooters for help defending the paint. With my strategy, I know backdoor cuts are the biggest issue, but the Rockets are pretty small. I wouldn't front Clint or Montrezl, but everyone else gets ball denial. Then when a backdoor cut opens up, the whole team crashes for the rebound. Play physical offensively, repeat. See if Houston can last. They say, "take a fight to a boxer and box a fighter". It think that applies here. Take a dogfight to these skill players. If I can push the series to 6 or 7, they'll be banged up for the closing games.
