Why have the police not taken Griffin in for questioning? Help me understand. He allegedly punches a woman in the face (pictures should be on the news), pulls out a gun, and fires at her. Is that not enough? And if Eddie is on the run, what is he hiding from?
I'm guessing that either they are still gathering evidence, or that they don't find her story that convincing? Since there is not warrant out for Eddie's arrest, I don't think he'd be considered on the run.
You have no idea about what ha happened or anyone of us here... so I think you should be the last one tellin him to get a clue or saying "shame on Eddie"!
Maryland stole Francis from San Jacinto Junior College here in Houston. San Jac has never forgiven the Terps or the Turtles... whatever they are.
From the news, it sounds like the girl involved is not the mother of EG's child. She is a new sweet heart, at least that is what she said, and he said not.
Hey...give credit where credit is due. San Jac is actually in Pasadena (a suburb of Houston) and they have had one of the top rated basketball programs in their division for quite a few years. Go Ravens! ummm.. Go Rockets!
steve is still the leader of this team even though yao might get most of the shots.stevie know that we cant trade griffen now so by him being the team leader he is tring to help eddie get his carrer and his life back on track thats the sign that stevie has matured.eddie can still be used even if its a 3rd power foward role. Yao is not ready to handle these kinds of things yet.Iam sure steve can do a much better job than van gundy and cd to get in griff head.
I hope this will start a whole new life for Griffin. let's just hope that there were notting serious on the accusation.
Negative!! How about Jermaine O'Neal and some of their teammates. This is what teammates do. It doesn't make Francis a "leader" for doing it. It's about helping out your fellow man. Whether it be your friend or your teammate, or what have you, it is basically the obligation of every "professional" athlete to do so. Eddie needs help! The team and the organization has been there for him. But enough is enough. The Rockets have given EG ample time and chances. It is time to sever ties with Eddie. EG has some growing to do as far as being a father, a professional, and above all, a man! He will NEVER succeed on the court until he has attained certain success in life. http://www.indystar.com/print/articles/6/082005-7846-036.html Pacers co-captain Jermaine O'Neal, meanwhile, plans to take the initiative in bringing Artest closer to the rest of the players. That process could begin as early as Monday -- O'Neal's 25th birthday -- when he plans to have dinner with some teammates in Chicago the evening before another exhibition game with the Bulls. O'Neal said Artest, who has a wife and three children in Indianapolis, is so devoted to his family that he hasn't grown close to his teammates. "The biggest thing is not having him feel like he's isolated," O'Neal said. "We need to open up to him and feel comfortable with him off the court. We know who he is on the court. But he's so into his family we don't have that many chances to talk to him off the court. Once we do that and he understands we just want the best for him, stuff will fall into place." O'Neal said off-court events in a player's life sometimes lead to outbursts during games. He hopes that reaching out to Artest and helping him trust someone other than "a suit-and-tie guy" will help reduce those moments. "Once he gets comfortable to where he can open up and talk to us and let us know what's bothering him we'll be fine," O'Neal said. "That's my job this year. It's not the coach's job or management's job, it's my job to help him understand. Because at the end of the day we're the ones on the court."
How in God's name did this thread become about Steve Francis? On the news last nite they didn't mention anything about Griff's kid anyway, they said a "girlfriend" came over to his house as requested and... whoops! Eddie was with another woman! Then Eddie beat up the girl that came over and shot at her. Anybody else get a different impression?
Picky, picky... do you want to confuse the thousands of members we have now who would assume Pasadena was in California?? And you don't remember the quote going around San Jac after Steve was spirited away? Something from Poe that escapes me. About a raven. Darn. Hey, I grew up on the Southeast side, not in Pasadena, thank god, and I have many friends and relatives who passed through there at one time or another. Wasn't it an option to avoid jail time for going 32 mph in a 30 in that glorious city?? j/k! (well, sorta... )
I started a thread about Steve being a good leader and one of the examples I used was Steve talking to EG, and trying to get him back on the same page with Rockets management. That thread was then merged into this one by the admins. So there are two things going on here. On is talking about Stevie and his leadership qualities, and the other about Eddie. Both are actually on topic since the two threads were merged.
I looked around and didn't see this yet. Rockets' forward not yet charged Associated Press HOUSTON -- A woman who says Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin struck her in the face and shot at her met with Houston police investigators for three hours Monday, a lawyer acting as her spokesman said. "She basically said what I've already reported -- he hit her three times in the face and shot at her as she was driving way," Chernoff said of the statement Joann Romero gave police. "I'm assuming now the police will try to talk to Mr. Griffin." Romero suffered a bloodied lip and bruised right eye. Griffin, already under suspension by the Rockets for missing practices and a team flight during the preseason game, has not been charged. "Technically, she came in to give a formal statement to our investigators," police spokesman John Cannon said. "Her statement is consistent with what she told the patrol officers. We still have to interview a couple of other witnesses who were inside the house." Cannon said police also would give Griffin an opportunity to make a statement. Griffin's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment Monday. Hardin previously has declined to comment about Romero's accusation that she was assaulted early Saturday at the basketball player's upscale home in a gated community in southwest Houston. But Hardin told the Houston Chronicle for a story in Monday's editions that Romero was "both distorting the relationship and the circumstances of why she was there." Hardin told the newspaper that Griffin probably won't be making a voluntary statement to detectives. "He had run her off twice that night," said Hardin. "He has tried to get her to leave him alone for some period of time." He said that Romero rang the doorbell and was refused entrance about an hour before the final incident that resulted in the allegations that she was beaten and shot at. She later went inside without permission and was escorted out of the house by Griffin, Hardin said. Chernoff said Sunday that Romero, 21, and Griffin had a romantic relationship going back at least two years. He said she was invited over. "She's not guilty of any crime," he said. "She's not guilty of doing anything except coming over on invitation. She came over at the wrong time." "She's just mischaracterizing everything," Hardin said, accusing Romero of being a trespasser. The Rockets placed Griffin on the teams' suspended list Monday and prepared to open the season without him. "It ain't no distraction," forward Kelvin Cato said. "I don't know anything about his situation. All I'm focusing on is playing Denver on Thursday." Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said he was keeping an open mind about Griffin's future. "I don't characterize it in any way," Van Gundy said. "We are concerned with him and his actions and his behavior and we want what's best for him. We also have a team to look after and an organization to look after." The Rockets placed Adrian Griffin, Eric Piatkowski and Ben Davis on the disabled list. The moves left the Rockets with 11 players on their roster.
You mean there is a Pasadena in California?? Them copycats! In all seriousness, Pasadena always got a bad rep as far as the cops were concerned. Deer Park, North Shore and LaPorte's were always MUCH stricter. Most of the cops in P-dena wouldn't jack with ya unless you were going 8-10 mph over the limit.(or had people hanging out the windows) I tested this many, many times over the years and found it to be true.
