    the latest...
SportsRadio610 just reported that EG is still on the team and can return to the team even after this incident. Also reported that Steve Francis has spoken to EG and understands the situation and is working with him and the team to get it resolved. JVG said EG can return to the team but it will depend on his actions..

It's amazing what kind of job security a guaranteed contract can give you.

He's young, I'm glad he's getting a second chance. Everybody deserves a second chance.

JVG needs to clean house starting with Griffin. And if Stevie Francis wants to give him lip, he is next. That's one of the reasons I wanted Rudy gone. JVG takes no BS.

    Stevie deserves your praise

Apparently according to 610 Steve is talking with EG, and trying to help bring an end to this whole soap opera mess. That's leadership.

He's played better defense, and seems to have bought into JVG's system. He and Yao are friends, and get along well. Many people here swore Steve was resentful of Yao and the attention he recieved. Steve was supposed to be against Yao stealing his spotlight. It turns out that so far that hasn't proven to be the case. That's putting personal ego and glory aside for the betterment of the team.

JVG made the comment about players not coming in early to camp, and some people felt he was talking about Steve. People complained about Steve spending time on his record label. Yet when Steve came to camp he was in shape, and had even bulked up a little too much. He was 212, and JVG wanted him at 209. That's dedication.

Let's hope Steve continues the trend, and improve at his position.

I think all players, as decent human beings, should be doing this for a teammate.

It's definitely nice, but not really a sign that Francis is the ultimate team leader now.

Why do you single Steve Francis out? Steve and JVG haven't had problems, Steve hasn't given anyone lip? Talk about a hater.

Because Francis had almost as much baggage as EG. To his credit, Francis has been well-behaved off the floor.

We shall see how Francis responds to a seemingly reduced offensive role. This year will be the ultimate indicator of how much Francis really wants to win, and how much of a sacrifice he'll make for the betterment of the team.

I think it's 50/50 that he responds well.

So I guess was a Yao-only fan in the 80s? Good call, numbskull.

Look up my post history, and tell me when I have spoken about Yao.

I see that you are seriously trying to force it down our throats. Nice gesture though but I am sure he was not the only one who call Eddie.

I say this because I don't want Francis-Only fans like you to blow this out of proportion.

I don't understand you guys .... yes he had that infraction with weed that was a huge mistake. but this whole fiasco with skipping practices ...

he put his family over his job, and you guys are coming down on him? no, im not saying what he did to try to resolve the issue is right [no one would] but the fact you cant look past eddie griffin as a basketball player is very very disgraceful of everyone on this board. the way he is handling it all couldnt be worse, but christ, he is a human being he has a family to care about. all everyone thinks or cares about is how we can get rid of him or the mistakes we made and the prices we paid to keep him. seriously, you guys are pathetic; shame on all of you.

I disagree. How many players were talking to Ron Artest and trying to help him sort out whatever demons were making him act out like a fool last year?

Steve is taking the initiative in this thing, and that is a sign of leadership. Whether or not he's the ultimate team leader who knows? Who is? Who on the Lakers team was working to smoothe things over between Shaq and Kobe in the past? The players just kind of dealt with it.

    What family issue?

Fact is that EG has made up BS excuses to hide his real off-the-court issues.

If you think using a gun is condonable with "family issues" then you should be doing something else other than posting here.

Shame on Eddie for allegedly shooting at a woman. That is more shameful than Rockets fans bashing him for that.

    Get a clue.

think of all you family men out there... what lengths would you go to if your child was more or less being taken from you? im sure everything else in the world would take a backseat. no one, absolutely no one knows eddie's true situation on this board, yet everyone jumps to conclusions and wants to admonish him because all they see him as is a basketball player.

if oyu read my post i said that, no im not saying what he did to try to resolve the issue was right. and like i said, you have NO IDEA what is going on in his life right now, or what the true motives of what happened with the shooting. until you do you should shut up.

Francis isn't the a-hole that Artest is, I admit. But does that really make him a "leader"? No.

What's funny is you mention the Lakers. You bought into the media hype of the Kobe-Shaq feud. Fact is that that it was way blown over proportion, and it wasn't a big enough of a feud to prevent them from winning 3 titles. If Francis and EG can win us 3 rings, I could care less what their relationship is.

Francis only fan? I think you were joking, but I could be wrong. Anyway I just wanted to point some of the good stuff he's doing, since we hear so much against the guy even when a lot of it is taken out of context or blown out of proportion. I'm more like a 'balanced look at the situation-only' fan.
