Well, if u look at it from the Kobe point of view, maybe he's just gettin sick and tired of having to not work hard at all to win? Maybe he wants more of a challenge? Maybe its just too easy for him on the lakers now. He had a string of almost 10 games last season with 40+. I'm sure we all remember that. Maybe he wants a team that he can turn around, and be challegend to succeed against all odds with. I admire this, unlike the rest of you. If i was in the NBA, I'd be jumpin teams every year, because I like the challenge. It's sorta like when your playing madden or nba2k3 and you have a DOMINATING franchise....YOU GET SICK OF IT AFTER A WHILE.

You'd have to only listen to Krikorian for 10 minutes to get some context. He's the Bill Walton of LA sports radio. He's doing his "I'm appalled" Devil's advocate routine in order to have the opposing viewpoint of his 400+ lb radio partner Joe "Big Nasty" McDonnell (who puts Walton to shame in the UCLA/Lakers jocking dep't). In 6 months, Krikorian will have done a complete 180 on the Kobe issue.

    Well, on the short list:

    1) Represented by Pam Mackey (who got Patrick Roy acquitted for spousal abuse), Hal Haddon (who got JonBenet Ramsey's parents off the hook even though they were the prime suspects), and Terrence O'Conner (an atty with prior success in getting taped confessions nixed).

    2) Conviction requires a unanimous 12-0 jury vote.

    3) In order for conviction, jurors must be convinced that he raped her beyond all reasonable doubt (of which many reasonable explanations will be presented).

    4) Jury pool already exposed to accuser's inconsistent story and able to formulate opinions.

    5) Judge Gannett indicated in writing that it wasn't even clear if the accuser said no and that the case was sent to trial only because he was bound by law to do so because of the low standard for probable cause in preliminary trials.

    6) OJ and Ray Lewis.

    that about sums it up...

Also, don't forget about the fact that the defense seems to have no problem with destroying the life of the accuser, or with leaking key tidbits of info that were supposed to remain sealed.
