I heard earlier on sports radio 610 that when Charlie Palio and Rich were talking about Pat Riley stepping down as head coach of the Heat and Stan Van Gundy replacing him, Charlie Palio had mentioned that if the Heat don't make improvement, maybe Rudy T might be interested in coaching the Heat or another team. I wouldn't be surprised if Rudy T would accept another position as a head coach. I know he is not done coaching in the N.B.A. What do you guys think?

Its a matter of time, and when it happens whomever that team is, they will instantly be my 2nd favorite team.

    .

Not a good thought, but I still would say yes they would be my 2nd favorite team. Hes not coaching Stockton or malone or any of the other guys we all despise. I still hate the jazz but the degree of hate has dropped dramtically downwards over the years. I would still hate to see rudy in Utah, But I dont think we'll have to worry about that, I would expect Rudy to get an offer from a team full of veterans, a team that cant quite get over the hump.

This is all assuming that he is healthy again as all reports are indicating.

I would hope that Les doesn't let him leave. Rudy T is a Rocket, plain and simple. The Rockets need to do whatever it takes to retain him, make him team president or GM and move CD up to president, whatever. But he needs to remain a Rocket for life. I can't stand the thought of Rudy T going to another team and coming back as the visiting coach. It makes me want to vomit.

I think it's become very clear that Rudy is not the TYPE of coach to rebuild with. He is certainly the type that can win a championship, but IMO not the type to help build a team towards a championship.

Maybe the Heat AFTER a season with Stan Van Gundy. Maybe the Knicks. Maybe even the Bulls.

What Rudy needs to do is take a team that JUST made the playoffs and JUST got rid of a disciplinarian, and take that veteran team to the promise land.

I think Rocket Rich or someone mentioned Portland and Dallas as possibilities. I hope he gets back into it though. He could help a veteran team.

Rudy will coach again. As soon as it is clear that he is completely healthy, I don't think there is any question he will be a head coach in the NBA again, and probably a highly sought-after one as well.

I can see RudyT coaching somewhere else...He's a player's coach and after his scare, he will come in with a new attitude and drive to succeed...

Did you guys hear the Rudy love during the game last night? As much as we knock the guy, there is no doubt his stock around the league is HIGH (I mean Isiah Rider high)

You know that Steve Patterson has Rudy's number on speed dial. Hate that for Mo Cheeks, since he is clearly the only person on that team with any class.

I still think his ultimate destination is Detroit and home. There may be an interim stop (Miami or Portland?) for a year or two, but within four years I expect LB retired, and Rudy and Sophie back where it all began.

That is the ONLY way I will ever forgive Les for his abysmal treatment of a lifer, legend, and the best head coach this organization has seen.

I remember a couple of april fools jokes ago where the webmasters said Rudy T was heading up north to coach the Wolverines. Well that may not be such a joke anymore. If UMich falters again this season look for some heads to roll. Rudy to Michigan...it could happen.

Sane how can you say this look at the team that he built. He acquired Cato, he acguired francis, he picked mobley, he drafted Boki, and yes he got us Yao. Yes now we all believe it was a no brainer but then that was not true everyone said what a waste of a pick the Rockets are just stupid.

The Rockets have rebuilt the former championship faster than anyone else and will make the playoffs this year and that is primarily because of the talent on the floor. And Rudy as well as Cd should both get credit for that. I'm not downing JVG I think he is doing an admirable job but the Rockets would have looked as good without him. And the main reason why is Yao. He improved immensely over the offseason. Yao single handedly made the rockets a better team did you notice how are wins worked in correlation to Yao's arrival and increased playing. Forget about JVG, the guys a good coach but Rudy built this team and Les was a snke not to allow him to take them to the promise land.
