Conley is a great player, mostly when he plays against the Rockets but I will grant him a small reprieve since he sunk the Warriors the other night. His durability is also a fair point of criticism, if he can't play a full season then he isn't worth very much. Tha dude would like to be on the all-star ballot or MAYBE even run for president because Zaza and Trump have proven that I can win in these contests.

No votes for Conley, though. He plays for a division rival and I hope he has fun with life and I wish him well but I hope his team gets destroyed on every night they play.

Even when Curry plays well, he still gets outplayed by the opposing point guard. Unanimous MVP anybody?

Would be great to have him cheap on the Rockets, won't happen because he aint cheap.

He does not make the Allstars is because he has limited offensive game. For a borderline star.

Grizzlies have played a slow pace, Defense first for years.

They score tons in the paint this is why Zach and Marc got touches.

Rudy Gay was a chucker and averaged only so many points. Only once did he average a little over 20 ppg as a Grizz.

Typical allstar numbers for a guard in today's NBA.

18 ppg or more, 7 apg or more, 5 rbp or more, 2 spg or more. Close to 40% from 3, better than 45% FG

    You get the drift.

He needs to find a team where he is the second banana and start averaging 18 ppg and 8 apg. We know he can defend.

Grizzlies have played a slow pace, Defense first for years. has nothing to do with his limits

They score tons in the paint this is why Zach and Marc got touches. neither does this

Rudy Gay was a chucker and averaged only so many points. Only once did he average a little over 20 ppg as a Grizz. Not even the same person, aren't we talking about mike conley?

James Harden doesn't meet this requirement, neither does Russell Westbrook, neither does Steph Curry or Kyrie Irving, nor does Damien Lillard. Dwade, a 12 time allstar, never meet this requirement in his entire career. Nor did Tony Parker. In his entire career.

But what you are saying is unless Mike meets those requirements he can't be an allstar. Got ya.

You get the drift. yeah I get it

Lin sucks not because his teammates better than him, even in the Nets.

Not his fault. His agent sucks because he should choose an even worse team with all d league players.

Lin is often injuried and not able to contribute, not his fault, nothing to do with his 'limits'.

He was not being the all stars just because all your LOH not agreeing his first 7 games are the greatest in NBA history.

    Got ya.

    Now GTFO.

Of course it does, he would be closer to the Allstar numbers, were he on the GSW.

This is speculation but we have never seen him on an Offensive juggernaut team.

First and foremost the team's limitation is what defines this player's limitation.

18 and 7-8 is not as hard to achieve as you might think.

I can see him average that. His main limitation is he defers to other players.

18 and 7-8 apg and 4-5 rbg is doable, the FG and 3 pt percentage may vary.

They are not too strict on the percentages.

He is a PG, so Assists numbers (Ass. to TO ratio) are sort of relevant and to assess him as one of the leaders on the team,
Points per game is also important.

He is not a popular name, so the only way to get in an Allstar game is through the coaches, media and a jury.

Those numbers are there to build him an easier path to the Allstars.

He can still get in but 3, 4 guards might get injured for them to consider him.

He will be borderline. His 15 ppg 6 apg are still good.

Everybody makes a good money in the NBA. But Conley gets paid more than Harden!! No body should give him a free pass to the all star game that's ridiculous!

According to your offensive allstar numbers there is not a player in the league that meets them except for Chris Paul, who is a hall of famer in his prime. So I am not sure what your measuring sticks are.

I would also like to point out that Mike Conley head's an offense that when the game is close, the grizzlies win. They call the stat super clutch, and you can read about it here:
    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18272691/memphis-grizzlies-most-clutch-team-nba

    here's an excerpt:
MANY OF THOSE big moments for the Grizzlies start with Conley. In 53 minutes of clutch action this season, he has scored an astounding 50 points, shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, 54.5 percent from deep and 95.2 percent from the free throw line, according to NBA.com research.

As said before he is not popular so he won't get in as a starter.

And the coaches or media who are determining the bench will be forced to favor big men, because there are so many good ones in the West.

I do not see Mike Conley's name even on that list.

Manu G. and Iggy are bench players.

And even Marc Gasol is not a lock to make this allstar game as a starter. (Pachulia is No.2 in Frontcourt. Gasol No.10)

    Western Conference

    Frontcourt

    1 Kevin Durant (GS) 541,209
    2 Zaza Pachulia (GS) 439,675

@daywalker02 also daywalker, if you look at the last 3 minutes of the game, with the points less than 3 ahead or behind, Mike Conley is tied for 10th in the league with 30 points in that time frame. And if you look at just guards, he is 7th in the league, and only westbrook and Bledsoe have scored more, which seems to disprove that Mike is somehow a second fiddle scorer.

Also, compared to James Harden who sports a regretful 17.4% field goal percentage and an even more face palming 10% from 3 and 67.9 from the free throw line, Mike is 47.4, 33.3 and 83.3 respectively. Mike's 47.4 fg percentage also ranks him 7th among guards and only Bledsoe and Troy Daniels interestingly enough in the west is better than him. (I filtered it to include only those players that had at least 15 points or more).

The point is that while Mike isn't the more explosive scorer in the league at guard, nor is he the best in one particular area or the other, he is often better than many guards that you might think is better than him and he is certainly efficient in the clutch with well-rounded skills.

I hope he gets in some day especially for a loyal fan like you.

His clock is ticking. Younger guards will emerge.

If he does not, he will be remembered as one of the best guards to not make an Allstar game.

    Thanks for trying.

I think he's going to get in this year. I hope that the media and coaches see that he is deserving. The fact that he is not popular is due to the fact that the grizzlies are rarely featured in high profile games on Christmas day, they have never been on one, which is egregious in my opinion. And when they do show him, he usually gains fans as when he played 2 years ago with a broken face against the warriors and this game were he put draymond on skates.

Also, remember this: his clutch stats would be even better if he hadn't missed 11 games due to injury. Think about that.

I knew it was a what post before I clicked.

How does it feel? Knowing that the NBA is rigged and your city will never be given a championship.

It feels pretty bad. But I think that, increasely, our players Marc and Mike, really try to get to the refs by talking to them, so that even if the refs are somewhat biased, they give the grizzlies a chance to win the game.

But it does indeed suck that the nba is touting Cleveland-Golden State III so shamelessly. Nobody else in the nba matters.

Hard to justify with options like Brewer and Motiejunas out there.
