You are right, in that they need to be made complacent for peace to work. 80% of them support continued war even after they get their own state. So how to make the Palestinians complacent to the idea of an Israeli state? Who knows.
Agreed. And I agree with treeman that no peace can be forged until the suicide bombings stop. It's worse than depressing.
That stat means almost nothing. Like I said in the thread about it If OBL promised not to have any more terrorist attacks against the U.S. I bet 80% of the folks in this country would to continue going after him. When an injustice is done to you, it's not just forgotten right away. However once a people are living in peace, and mothers don't have to worry about their sons being killed, and people are able to earn a living, and have enough water to survive, and move around their homes freely, then that 80% number would probably drop by a huge amount.
it was 80% when the peak of the israeli attacks went down... it is now around 57%, and thats still not all palestinians, its just 1241 people i believe that were polled
it does,,,, but doesnt a mother whose 12 yr old has been shot in the head, or runover by some army tank have feelings, and wouldnt your momma get pissed if another country shot U? for every action there is a reaction. NO ONE KNOWS WHO STARTED IT... it doesnt matter who started it, the more mature of the 2 should be the one to stop it, if israel really considers itself a true country then it should give peace a chance.
i dont want to start this whole conversation again and go into a steaming debate about who's right and who's not, but the fact is the palestinians arent credited as a country. there is no real police, there is no officials who can arrest and crack down on terrorists or even someone who robs a convenience store. they need some authority to keep the peace in the country.
