So in the end you are asking if the US should continue a trading partner with China, correct? And if this is "on the right side of history" meaning what exactly? That trading with China will have caused the downfall of the US sometime in the future?

Alternative is what, a complete trade embargo with perhaps a first strike military invasion?
Or that we should have done that during Nixon's time?

I mean I get being cute and all with a first post, but if you want an actual discussion, you have to state what you mean.

I am appalled, shocked, and a little bit disturbed that there are members flat-out denying any sort of trade alliance between the US and China. As though there is almost no trade between the two countries and what little trade exists is done in an ad-hoc manner.

Now you are either flat out trolling, or so dense that it is rather astonishing that you graduated from high school, much less a university. Perhaps you are still going to one or the other. Putting that aside, you seem incapable of looking up the answers to your "questions" on Google, since you could easily find that information there. You are ignoring actual answers to your "questions," answers given multiple times here, and answers that are very accurate. Answers that are not simply opinions. I get the sense that you really aren't interested in the truth. It is out there, young fellow. It is right here in this thread, assuming you have an actual interest in a real answer to your ever changing "question."

Do you have any interest in being taken seriously? It doesn't appear so, based on your posts.

I merely asked the question of whether the US is on the right side of history. That question has provoked a litany of responses, none of which attempt to answer the question. I think that answers everything.

Yes it is. Globalization has pushed hundreds of millions out of extreme poverty and has created a larger global middle class of which China is now a part of. There are consequences to that growth both obvious and unforeseen yet, but there are also solutions.

Was that the answer you are looking for? Maybe more helpful to just tell us your opinion?

He has a history of (probably purposely) being unclear and talking nonsense. Troll? Dense? Mentally ill? Who knows.

Is the United States the kind of government that China would want to associate with?

I think he's very young. In this case, it's pretty clear he hasn't been around long enough know anything about China relations.

    "Alliance"? LOL!

Bravo. I wasn't looking for a particular answer.

My question (and this thread) was meant to illustrate that humanitarian qualities have little or no bearing on who the US chooses to do business with (see Salafi Arabia for another great example). Whether that business is through political, economic or military gain, the US does what's in its best interest. Imagine if the US stopped and considered other countries first rather than itself first.

I think you saw through my questioning while others chose to attack my character, intellect, age, and whatever else they could scrounge up.

If they are interested in selling their stuff. If they aren't, they're going to have a lot more empty high rises.

We needed the Middle East purely for cheap energy to power a growing, modern world. I think most countries put themselves first and compromise where/when needed.

Really? Go back and read your opening post. Look at the initial responses. They responded to the question in the title of your thread, or your OP, which didn't correspond to the title. Look at how you responded. You belittled an extensive post by ymc that attempted, accurately, to respond to your OP, an OP that had nothing to do with your title. So you wasted his time and you wasted mine, who was responding to the title. What you will see in the rest of this short thread, in my opinion, if you look at your responses honestly, is that you constantly changed your "question," and your responses to others were all over the map, just as your title said one thing, and your OP said something else altogether.

You asked further down page 1, "Oh, please tell me, and please tell me more than one thing. Let's start with: is the US on the right side of history with its alliance with China, and is this the kind of alliance that we want?"

We do not and never have had an "alliance" with the People's Republic of China. We had an alliance back in WWII with the former government, that eventually was forced to flee to Taiwan. When ymc said essentially the same thing I just said, you insulted him again, describing his post as, "Bizarre? Obfuscating?" Meanwhile, you kept changing your "question." You should wonder why people don't take you seriously. You're lucky you get responses at all, because what you are doing is wasting everyone's time. You don't have to, but perhaps it gives you pleasure. If so, you are simply a troll.

I mean, all I can do at this point is paste the definition of alliance. @dmoneybangbang understood the question. Why can't you?

So you are being a troll. Thanks for clearing that up.
