And that's the real problem in a nutshell, Biggio and Bagwell got Dierker fired and have carte blance in alot of personnel and managerial decisions. San Francisco had no problems in 2002 with a "lame duck" manager.

And I agree with you about the Blum/Ensberg deal. Blum earned his starting job in April/May with a strong 2002 season. You can't question giving him those early-season at bats. Based on Ensberg's strong first half of the season, he got nearly 50 more plate appearances than Blum did in the second half. Both of them performed significantly worse after the All-Star break, but I'd venture that Ensberg's going to get the majority of ABs next season.

It's funny that people pick on the time given to Blum over Ensberg, when the real story IMO offensively is at catcher. There's no conceivable reason that 450 ABs should have been wasted on a .230 hitter with zero power. Look at the teams playing in the LCS and World Series. You don't see the Yankees or Marlins using players in their lineup who can't hit, just for their defensive value. Pudge and Posada are studs.

Sorry, Jimy is not what I think this city and this franchise is entitled to.
