Honestly, it's kind of scary that we could have such a fluky, horrific shooting game from three and yet it took a miraculous comeback for the Spurs to steal away the game. And this was without our starting center.

    Really pleased with this team.

I actually agree. This game gave me a lot of hope. Our 3's weren't falling, we were missing Capela and we still made it very close.

We made many mistakes at the end of the game. But our defense is actually looking better than I expected.

Imagine if we just hit 10 3's like we have done it for the past 26 or so games it wouldn't even been close. No reason to panic we just had an awful shooting night.

NO, it would still be close because we would have relaxed, especially harden, and wouldn't play so well. Remember , 3s were falling and we had 29 points advantage against freaking kings and it was a close game almost to the last few minutes.

I find it hilarious that some people are claiming they're certain we can beat the spurs after a loss. The guy handling the dream shake twitter said, and I quote, "Rockets lost, but this game made me more confident that they're better than the spurs"

I don't care that he has 10k followers, that is such a ridiculous statement; he clearly lacks basketball knowledge. A team with a better record came into our home court and late in the game, when the score was tight, executed much better than we did and won. Closing games comes in handy in the playoffs.

And before I get attacked, I also don't believe that last night's loss is the end all be all. It's one loss, to a very good team, one that is consistently better than us. They were better than us last year, they have been better than us this year. We have room to improve. We just showed that we still have a ways to go with executing during tight situations and when our shot isn't falling, which are essential for playoff success.

You have to play 48 minutes of basketball every game if you want to contend for a championship, and the Rockets need to improve in that department. We are not there yet....and thats ok.

I get what you are saying and don't necessarily disagree. I think what people including myself are saying is that the Spurs pretty much played their normal game and gave what they would probably give in a 7 games series. We were without Capela, shot the worst 3 point % not just for us, but in NBA history for a team shooting 35 plus 3s, and we still were leading by 13 points with about 4 and a half minutes to go. Yes, we didn't close, but we showed that we can play with this team and not be outclassed. All 3 games against them have been close if my memory is correct. The difference is, they are what they are and we don't expect them to get much better by the playoffs; while we are still growing, learning each other as teammates, learning a new system and coach, and may even get better with some type of trade by the deadline.

So overall, with the way that we have played them, many people are suspecting (me included) that we can beat them in a 7 game series come playoff time. We were not comfortable saying that in recent years, so it's a big deal!

That's cool. I appreciate you explaining your thought process. And the game can be interpreted in many different ways.
Me personally, I think it's showing signs that when things get tough, we struggle to execute and we are still behind a team like the Spurs. I think we're a phenomenal regular season team but we are going to struggle our first year in the playoffs with this squad. You disagreeing is completely fair.

I don't agree with you when you say Spurs wouldn't give much more in the playoffs. That's not how the NBA works. Remember when we drew Portland in the first round a few years ago. We looked pretty good going into that series, the way we were playing and the way we played against those blazers. But we clearly didn't show up from the beginning and fell into a 0-2 hole largely due to a current Spurs player. Some will say he was on fire, true. Some will say if we played them again we would have won, probably. But thats besides the fact. I just saw that our team dropped the ball that year, and I saw them drop the ball last night.

But hey, I'd rather I be wrong and you right :)

My only mistake was believing in James Harden.
