Check this out! Some early reviews on Matrix Revolutions... it's looking VERY VERY good. Some minor spoilers at the end... http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=16340 I just watched Reloaded again over the weekend and the entire special feature disc, I'm hyped for Revolutions.
cool review for elf. unlike him i've seen the previews a dozen times and still laugh my ass off. will ferrell is the friggin man. i think i'm looking forward to this movie more than revolutions.
Reloaded was a let down. It was more of a special effects orgy than anything else IMHO. Though, I'm still excited about Revolutions, I'm already wondering about something I saw on an Aussie tv show. A clip where Smith says that he'll take neo on himself and that the thousands of Smiths lining that street were just spectators. The thing is, if in Reloaded, Neo was holding his own against all those Smiths, how could one be a match for him?
Maybe he upgraded himself again? Im pumped for Revolutions...I finally got around to watching Reloaded the week it cam out...I liked it more than many did..I need to watch it a few more times before I go see Revolutions to ensure I have everything firmly in mind... I think that is alot of the reason some didnt like it..it isnt easy to understand on all levels.
You mean just like the first one? Or did you like the first one because of the intense character exposition.
Maybe this time he wont wuss out and fly away. Still love the MTV Movie Awards parody "Wet willy, Mr. Timberlake"
I was pretty impressed with reloaded, I don't know why. I guess it's because my dad, later after the movie, explained in more depth all the religious stuff that was in it; making the movie have a little more meaning. I for one wasn't impressed with the FX in the second film, I thought it was too computer and not enough real life. That's what I liked about the first one; it was the actors doing all the fight scenes. The second had a computer Neo doing most of the playground scene, which just ruined it for me. Since this one is less story and more fighting, I think it probably evens out Reloaded. It will probably be the type of sequel that makes the first that much better.
That was what bugged me a lot about Reloaded too. Compared to the first one, where all the fight scenes involved real people, to see half of a scene where the star is computer animated in a live action movie, it just doesn't sit well with me.
That was my first response to this thread too. I can wait to walk into that theater opening night, sit down, and just be totally immersed, not knowing what to expect. It's going to be awesome.
Y'know, I LIKED Matrix: Reloaded. Granted, I wanted a little more action (hey, I'm an action w****, so sue me), but the whole philosophical exposition wasn't as bad as everyone says. I especially enjoyed the Architect's speech. I think people need to see Revolutions before totally judging Reloaded as a disappointment. It's not even a complete movie, for chrissakes (hello, cliffhanger?). And... it's still 100 times better than what that hack George Lucas has put out in the past 5 years...
I'd like to see reviews of Revolutions split in two camps: from reviewers who liked Reloaded and reviewers who didn't. If I can't agree with the review of the second one, I can't trust a review of the 3rd.
The thing is, if in the first one, Neo can stop bullets and can fly, then why does he even need to fight people at all...much less hand to hand? I would imagine stopping a bullet or forcing yourself through the air requires more skill than stopping a person's fist or, better, making them fly away and splat onto concrete or something. Once you start using your brain, the movies fall apart. They are simplistic pseudo-cyber punk video games.
Actually - though I think your criticsm applies in other areas - I never had a problem with it in the 'fight' scenes. Since his 'awakening' in the first film...I don't think Neo has fought anything 'normal' since. Meaning, other humans in the program. Unless I'm mistaken, since that thing in the end the only ones he's fought is an upgraded Agent Smith, and rogue programs in the Matrix. Am I right on this? In other words, he can 'stop bullets' and 'fly' because he's altering the Matrix around him, or simply processing the code differently. But, in the case of Smith and the rogue programs (such as the Merovingian's men), they aren't part of the 'coding' of the Matrix...so he can't just simply 'make' them stop. Unless I'm forgetting something...but did he fight anyone just regular in Reloaded? I don't think he did, but I could be wrong...
The thing i had with Matrix Reloaded was, yes it was a great movie, but REALLY felt ripped off by having a cliffhanger. I felt that if it was a trilogy, make Realoaded like it couldve been its own movie. At first, I thought this couldnt have been done, but after watching Kill Bill, it CAN be done. Hell, Kill Bill was originally made as a 3 hour movie and the first volume ended brilliantly.
You don't think it was a similar cliff hanger to that of Empire Strikes Back? Nothing was really solved right? Just kinda set things up for Jedi... Yet some claim Empire as their favorite of the three... (If the above is totally inaccurate, please disregard, it's late, and it's been along, long time since I've watched the original SW Trilogy... )
Yes, Empire is considered the greatest of the Star Wards Trilogy and yet it leaves you with more questions than answers. I guess the biggest knock on Jedi is the cutesy Ewoks who take down Storm Troopers and the overall "happy ending" chick stuff that most guys don't dig.
