bottomline to me is: I think anyone who would register at cc.net is a TRUE FAN, even ZRB. Yet, it can be irritating to hear one true fan say that sum up the summit fans as sucky. Remember, there are plenty of cc.net'rs (all true fans) who are carrying the torch for rabidness at the game.

Please do not say the fans at the games suck, without saying "Except all those true fans who post at cc.net".

    1) I realize that you clarified what you meant, Jam, I acknowedged that already.

    2) My statement about the fans at the games was a general chacterization. Without fans like you there it would be much worse. You are a minority. JR was able to better state what I was referring to.

    3) I am not trying to provoke anyone. I already said that i only posted this after the fact because I was unable to post while all of this argument was going on.

When i say that (in general) the fans are weak, I merely refer to what JR mentioned. In general, the Compaq Center is not rowdy enough. This is no secret. This is nothing new. It was like this during the first Championship run. Do you guys remember when we couldn't even sell out a playoff game on Mother's Day back in 94?

Since this site's inception, we've had discussions on how tame Houston fans are (in all sports) compared to other cities. It took winning 2 Championships before the Rockets started selling out games on a regular basis. And that only lasted a couple of years before people started to disapeer.

This is not a reflection on the minority of fans (like yourselves) who try to make the atmosphere more lively.

Look, I'm not attacking anyone here. I missed out on a lame arguement and wanted to add my 2 cents. All I did was try to stress how we should be wild at the game. Then 'true fan' gets mentioned and Jam gets all touchy.

I was hoping this thread would have been full of posts talking about how much fun this will be and what kind of wild things we can do to get some attention and instead it turns into some lame thread about who the true fans are.

    Where's the love?

oh one other thing I did want to add -- I have been more excited about going to games last year and this year than i have since 1995 because the team, while the record obviously hasn't been as good, has been WAY more fun to watch than the boring barkley ball teams. I really like to watch what Steve and Cuttino in particular are doing during timeouts and other breaks in play which is obviously not possible on TV.

I've sat in $46 upper prom seats for the first half of every game. Never had anyone ask me to stop shouting, booing, or standing up. (Although the really nice couple we sit next to did mention that they preferred to sit next to heyp instead of me, b/c of the noise [IMG] )

I've moved down into $110 lower prom seats for most second halves this year. I've gotten a dirty look or two, but no one has ever asked me to stop shouting, yelling, boo-ing, or anything.

What positive purpose does it serve to repeatedly point out that Compaq Center fans are weak?

let's measure that versus your original post
"wild things" "showing the suits" what for...

It sounds like your main motive is pent-up anger at corporate suits, you want to yell at the suits more than cheer for the Rockets. Don't get us all kicked out now...OK?

Hey man, the majority of people at the games are not Greenway suits. SpaceGhost, you have a real hangup about something here. Quit saying the majority of fans at the summit suck.

Try the upper prom. Plus, I have no problems yelling my head off in the lower prom, either. In fact, I find the suits like it when I do. Don't stereotype them and glare at them, then maybe we all will have fun.

what is your agenda, man. Put a nametag on SpaceGhost Wink3, I don't want to sit next to a face painter who will spray paint Clutch the bear and get me kicked out (like what happened to the green Cuban fans).

Hey, you tried to analyze jamcracker. Did you not? You don't want to be analyzed for your clear dislike of corporate suits, well don't invent things about the fans at the games then. Go to a game. Yell in the upper prom...yell in the lower prom. It is not that hard. The suits don't care that much. And they are not the majority.

...and I can roll my eyes too. What a "weak" "lame" ending to your points.

When did i ever characterise Jamcracker? Can you point that our for me? I said (twice) that fans like you guys make it better.

So I guess you are trying to tell me that Houston puts other cities to shame when it comes to fan excitement and participation? Is it too much for me to wish for a more excitable atmosphere at the Compaq Center? Seems like the team would appreciate it more, too. In my opinion, opur crowd is not much of a home-court factor. I'm sorry if you disagree. You have every right to do so.

I've only been to 5 games this year so i guess I'm not qualified to make any judgements or observations on how excited that crowd gets.

I guess that everytime I was up there behind the hustle board yelling my lungs out while rows of people simply sat and watched was all my imagination. Maybe those 5 games were the designated 'chill' nights at the Compaq Center and i just didn't know it.

It was never my intention to accuse any single person of being lame. And i know for fact that I never said the fans suck. I don't where you got that from.

So feel free to pile back on and translate what I actually said to what you think I must've been trying to say. Also, get your names straight. You are going to confuse Space Ghost. He had no participation in this thread.

When did I ever say "characterise". We were talking about psychoanalysis. Nice way of switching words to suit your points.

This is how you falsely psychoanalyzed jamcracker:

He showed none of that in his first post. Maybe irritation, but not pointing at him. Who were you pointing at in your first post anyhow...Oh that's right...the Greenway suits.

Let's add that to your quote below and I'm willing to bet you were indeed characterizing him as a suit anyhow:

man....phew. wasn't too hard to pull those out of the archives. Do you want some more psychoanalysis from older threads about how you hate suits, and they are all around us in the Summit, glaring at us...spooky. Or will you just admit that you have no foundation for saying suits are the majority in the Summit, because you never attend a game.

jammie is as far from a suit as you can get...trust me on that one.

Well, I can honestly say, that in the two games I've had the pleasure of attending this year (T-Wolves and Pistons) the fans were very weak.

I think when SpaceCity says fans are generally weak, it's obvious that he's not talking about all fans. If he was, he'd have said all fans are weak, not general fans.

    Shhhhh, Rocketman95, I'm on a mission.

I'm trying to see if he is "Vini Vidi Vici" face painter who will conquer those Greenway Suits and get us all kicked out.

Shhhhh. You're getting in the way.

    SpaceCity,

Don't you know heypartner is not talking to you? Don't respond to him. he is in another one of his delusional stages and thinks he is in a thread with Space Ghost.

    Please don't encourage his illness.

This is getting fun. Keep it up and I just might hit 800 in this thread alone.

I wasn't aware that Jam thought I was calling him a suit. My sincerest apologies.

You seem to have plenty of time on your hands. I would be intersted in knowing how many times I've attacked suits in my history here. Should make for some good reading. Too bad the pre-.net post are not here. You'd have a few years of stuff to read through. I posted like mad in those days. No telling what you'd find.

Keep up the excellent work HeyP. Having this discussion with you has really made my day fly by and for that I would like to thank you!

WTF??!!! Oh My Holy Hell...you're right rimbaud. I thought this was Space Ghost all the time.

Hey SpaceCity...I don't speak for jamcracker. I don't know if he ever thought that.

Today, I'm unloading boxes in my new apartment with heyschweetie. I do need more to do. It made my day go faster too.

So, I take it you're not a body painter like rimbaud.

hate to interrupt all of the bickering, but....

won't be able to attend the game but was thinking clutch ought to outfit the whole bunch of you in clutchcity.net t-shirts (maybe talk a sponsor into footin' the bill)

would be a great visual for a crowd shot and great exposure for the website

    just a thought

I think we ought to hold up placards that say:

    LowerOurPrices.Com

    Or

    Shout-Out Lower Prom

    Or

    Joe Smith Hates Minnesota

    Or

    CC.NET SaveYourJobs.com Rocketball

    Or

    Where's The Love

(maybe I am too belligerent, but I'll shout whatever Space City wants me to shout)

To take a general statement and then act like it was pointed at you, jamcracker, is weak. I don't see how anything I, or Lynus, said could offend you.

The fans at Rocket games generally ARE weak. Do you object to that statement? Do you disagree that the Compaq Center should be a lot more lively than it is?

So you have the luxury of being able to afford a season pass. Big deal. Good for you. Enjoy that luxury while you can. Or maybe you have tons of money and will always be able to afford it. Good for you. Enjoy that luxury because that is exactly what it is.

My whole point of this thread was to hype everyone up. There is a great chance that this will get some sort of coverage, or at least a mention on TV, be it during the game or on ESPN or FOX or something. You never know.

How cool would it be for Clutch to have this kind of coverage? Very cool.

This will be a very fun and exciting time. We will all have a chance to put some faces to the names. We will possibly be seeing the Rockets fight for their playoff lives. We may be seeing Hakeem's last game as a Rocket. Playoffs or not, this game will be fun.

Seeing how you over-reacted to an innocent statement, you should understand that your crack about the rest of us is just rude and insensitive. You do not know our situations.

'Fan' is not a title given only to season ticket holders or people who make 10 or more games a year. I can only afford 5 or less a year. I have been going to 5 or less games a years for about 6 or 7 years now. I've seen nearly every game that I don't attend on TV for close to 18 years now. I created, hosted and maintained the now-dead RocketFuel from 96-00. I have 8 different jeseys and countless other t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, etc. My prized peices of memorabilia are a peice of the tile floor from 95 with the teams authgraphs on it, and the holy grail.... an autgraphed Hakeem jersey from 94 WITH SWEAT STAINS!!

    I AM a Rocket freak.

So, enough of my preaching. I know you already apologised for over-reacting, and that's cool. I just wanted say this since I was unable to while this was all going on.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. I can hardly wait.
