the tickets are too expensive bottom line. a lot of people don't want to spend $100+ on lower bowl seats when you can sit at your house comfortably and watch for free

Les blew it when all of us season ticket holders moved from The Summit to TC. That was his chance to do what the Texans did, and many many NFL and NBA teams do, and limit the number of adjacent seats in the high dollar area to 4 seats. This has been proven to both allow Corporations to still buy tickets, but also get a few of them to abandon the side-line Lower Bowl for Luxury Box. Those are the ones who have 8+ adjacent seats. They have absolutely no incentive to buy Luxury Box until you limit their number in the Lower Bowl.

And those seats always sell out, regardless.

So, since Les failed to do that, he is stuck with unsold Luxury Boxes. He has way too many of them, and it pushed the upper bowl up 20' and back 20'. Before moving to CO, I owned 2nd row center, upper bowl in both the Toyota Center and The Summit. I'm telling y'all...my seats in The Summit had equal view to the first row Luxury Box in the Toyota Center.

Les screwed us and himself by having two rows of Luxury Boxes (that Houston can't sustain, and Dallas/SAS don't even do) and not limiting adjacent seats to 4 seats in the lower bowl like the Texans did.

Toyota Center is an unnecessarily poor design for upper bowl. It's a Staples design. LA can handle it -- because Lakers -- and because you own those seats for concerts too (huge benefit in LA) and because there is no NFL team competing for Luxury Box money.) No one does it that way anymore.

I didn't see it posted so...
Here are the statistics this year:
Avg. Rockets home game attendance this year is: 15,889.
Toyota Center basketball configuration seats: 18,055.
    Seat fill percentage: ~88%
Most tickets still available for any game this season: 3,478.
Only 12 home games this year so far the numbers tend to increase as the season wears on.
Last year the Rockets had only 74 unsold seats on average per home game.
They are down this year but with many home games to go the delta will decrease. Rockets are bottom third in attendance this year so far.
NBA game attendance is popular with an average of over 95% of available seats sold.

This certainly shows the difference between season ticket sales after the WCF appearance and after JBB. I would say this is directly tied to how many people bought after WCF and how many dropped season tickets after last year.

    Houston is a football town.

They'll passionately support whatever garbage the Texans put on the field but won't give then same love to the rockets who are actually the best run franchise in the city.

Don't worry the bandwagoners will be out once they make the playoffs.

Wish I could trade the Wizards for the Rockets. I'd never miss a game.

Houston is outrageously bias towards the Texans over every other Houston sports team.

The media forces the Texans down people's throat.

The Texans have all these Texans specific shows on local television like texans buzz on abc but nothing for the rockets.

All these Texans commercials but nothing for the rockets.

Osweiler got more local commercials than harden.

I was at the game last night. It was more full than you think. Midway through the 3rd when everybody had their concessions it was pretty packed. Section 112 row 6

Yes an no. I am approaching my mid thirties and there's probably a 5 year window within that age group where as a native Houstonian the Oilers left town and the Rockets filled that void by winning back to back championships. We name our kids Hakeem and Otis despite the fact we are freckled gingers because we are basketball fans first...because that's what we grew up on in our formative years.

We are coming into an age of more disposable income and a desire to raise our kids bleeding Rockets red. I want to get close enough to where my kids can appreciate the size and athleticism of these guys first hand. That's not something you can truly appreciate televised.

Beyond us Les you're stuck with more of the stereotypical millennial twats. So good luck with that... Better get while the gettings good

Houston will always be a football city I will always be a football fan before a basketball fan, though I am a huge fan of both sports. The fact that a lot of those low bowl tickets are owned by companies or overly expensive doesn't help matters either.

    This post is the truth.
Toyota Center was built for maximum entertainment and profit. You have suites which are bought by companies to entertain clients or themselves. there are seats that are bought by scalpers to be sold.

Plus Houston fans show for big matchups like Cleveland or Golden State. Toyota Center is not cheap, so if we are playing a bad team, people would rather spend their money at Pappadeauxs or go shopping at the Galleria

NFL is much more popular than the NBA. It's no surprise Texans > Rockets, media-wise.

I think Houston, overall, could use more fan support. The Astros haven't drawn well either in recent seasons.

This is what I believe to be the reason also. Ridiculous and really turned alot of fans off.

NFL games are events and they are only 1 per week with the advantage of being on the weekends. Its much harder in the NBA because you have higher average prices you have mid week games and its going to be a struggle if you aren't winning at a high level in Houston. The Astros have the same problem during the week and they have an advantage to have 3 months of their season when school is out. The Rockets only basically have the 2 week Christmas break and 1 one week spring break when kids are out of school. The attendance traditionally picks up when football season is over just as Astros attendance usually picks up once the Rockets are eliminated and school is out for the summer.

From what I've seen a great majority of the tickets are getting sold to every game something like 90% but people just aren't showing up in that lower bowl. It also doesn't help that tickets are expensive for even the lower corners for scrub games. I live out of town and will be going to my first game of the season in February. It felt like they were cheaper only a few years ago and I would go to multiple games in a season.
