Hey, go ahead! I acknowledge those are both fantastic schools that outpace UT in academic prestige. No sweat off my brow. When I say "objectively better," I'm referring to rankings like US News & World Report. Yes, I'm proud that I graduated from a school that is better than UH. Come at me, bro. We should really be talking about football, though!
you realize the UH t-shirt fan is mad jealous right? He's on a UT thread crying about UH because he's truly mad that their head coach jumped to UT like Super Mario over a turtle when the job was open. sit back and laugh
Texas missed out on a JUCO prospect named Sal Cannella. It was down to Texas and Auburn. I don't think this is shocking and I don't think it will be shocking if they lose out on the big Offensive Lineman Little on Friday. It's hard for someone to commit their next 4 years after only met the head coach once and without knowing the rest of the coaches. You never know though. Little is a guy that you watch and know he's an instant impact player. It goes beyond how many stars he has. That's your right tackle for the next 4 years. I just don't see a good reason to go to Texas with all of the question marks as oppose to Stanford which finished with 9 wins and has a very stable program. Their head coach is 63-17 and has 3 conference championships. They've also had around 5 Offensive lineman taken in the top 2 rounds of the NFL draft in that time. It's really a no brainer.
Ruining the thread is a bit dramatic. Let's just right the train. It would be funny if there was a "My dad is better than your dad" thread.
Ha come on dude, we're obviously talking about this in the context of sports. And I disagree that we haven't been "lighting up the field for the last 5-6 years", we have been downright horrible. So ya I'm okay with UH or anyone else talking smack about that. But for UH fans to be talking about the last 45+ years, total sports accomplishments, etc...is ridiculous. That's like Cincinnati talking down to Ohio State or Western Michigan to Michigan, etc... The conference didn't even vote on which schools would be included as they voted not to expand at all. So no you cannot say UT didn't vote for UH because it never got to that point. And yes some of the so called expansion committee didn't even show up to the meeting with UH, but did you know that a UT Rep was never even on the committee? So why all the UT in this instance? How come no hate for Gordon Gee (WV) or Boren (OU) who were on the committee? What about Mike Gundy who publicly said he didn't want to add UH? I'd be livid if I were a UH fan but sounds like you are wanting to blame UT more than anyone else when in fact, UT and Tech were the only schools that publicly supported them.
I'm a UT grad and I go to games every year and I know you are UT too. Why the uptick in salty UH fans on this thread? Saltier than the glass rim of a maragita
It isn't even UT in this case because it is the most powerful member of the Big XII, it isn't even debatable. If UT wants something, it happens. Couple that with public statements from UT supporting UH.... and then they don't even support expansion for UH. So, it DOES come down to UT in many cases. As for Mike Gundy and Dana Dimel, at least they were transparent with their position that they are afraid of losing recruits to UH. So yes, I do blame UT more than WV or OK ST because they don't have near the power and influence that UT has. Honestly, I have no quarrels with you and believe you are more objective than most on both sides.
Honestly, this whole Herman fiasco has made me feel *slightly* bad for A&M. Their whole rap as "Texas's little brother" seems to have only transpired out of opportunity. These last two weeks have shown that UH would have probably been a much whinier and out of touch "little brother" had they been given the opportunity to join the Big 12 back in the '90's.
No I'm not a classic bandwagon fan. I've been a fan of those teams before they won. Nice try trying to know me or when I became a fan. I'm sure it upsets you though. Haha, you had to go so far to guess when I became a fan of my other teams to attack me because you're in such a hissy fit about Houston football. Pathetic bro. Pathetic. You're too easy. There aren't many things you are ever correct about is there? Lmao. Pretty much. When they get sensitive, they start attacking you as a fan. Haha. It's really too easy to pinch those nerves.
Because whenever there's a problem or perceived slight in this conference, UT is to blame. Everyone else in this conference is expected to (and does) act in their own self-interest, but Texas isn't afforded that right.
What's crazy is that UT folk never had issues with UH folk, they are like little brothers. Ever since Herman left they've lost their minds. The rumor that Herman was coming here was ALL YEAR LONG and they didn't see it coming? Would they have been this pissed if it was LSU? would Landry's boy or other boosters claim they can match money ?
news alert. UT will never have the Houston recruiting base to themselves. They don't have Houston to themselves right now. Pretty much everyone already recruits Houston, and that won't change whether UH is in the Big 12 or not.
Isn't this the perfect case of damned if you do, damned if you don't? UT pushes their weight around and you get a pissed off Big 12. Don't push your weight and UH/expansion candidates are like WTF UT! With that said, what's done is done. Will be rooting for both schools so should be fun to watch.
I hope this is the narrative and not that Charlie would have won if had the chance. Also, I know you guys think this is just 5 star nonsense but this is the biggest recruitment since Malick Jefferson. Unfortunately, Little is not enrolling in the spring so there is always the chance he'll flip before February. He's the closest thing to a can't miss prospect. The sad thing is that he would be crazy not to go to Stanford. There is literally no good reason to go to UT other than a love connection to the school. It would require a tremendous leap of faith with a staff that he had virtually no relationship with. They don't even have a coordinator. Stanford has a great track record of winning games and conference championships and putting offensive lineman on the 1st day of the draft. I would love if he came to Texas but I would also think he made a mistake.
