All I can gather from this is that his back really must be shot. I just don't see Morey or the Rockets wanting to drag this out at this point without really being concerned about that back.

In what way is the player not coming first? What did the organization do to him? There's lots of innuendo and even more speculation... no facts. Only opinions. You have a loud mouth blow hard (that was fired from the organization - however unjustly) and his cohort spewing crap on a radio show. That's it. The organization hasn't said anything. DMo hasn't said anything (other than a "like" on twitter). The NBA hasn't said anything.

How do you know what DMo, the Rockets or anyone else involved feels or thinks? In short, you don't.

Lack of progress, perhaps? Some things regarding a medical condition can be gauged by a single test, others need to be observed over time.

If DMo's back looked iffy back then and today still looks just as iffy, that's more of a negative now then it was then.

This delay is not about DMo's back. It's about the process.

We can only hope this is not about Les trying to skin D MO out of a couple of million dollars.. Very dirty if true.

Some of you believe what you want to believe even if there are no facts to base a belief on.

    Off with someone's head!

Unless DMo's health deems him a risky investment. Les is under no requirement to throw his money at players just to be a nice guy. He and Morey are running a business, and part of that business requires that you field the best roster possible, while simultaneously keeping an eye on flexibility for future roster moves. If we sign DMo for "a couple of million dollars" more than he's actually worth, production-wise, we're screwing ourselves over on both current roster and future moves.

Another way of looking at it, for all of you who think we're being unfair to DMo: Would you have agreed to sign TMac to another max contract while he was in the middle of all his knee issues, in his last year or so with the Rockets? That would be the "fair" thing to do, especially considering he was once the face of our franchise and got us into the playoffs. But giving him more than he was actually worth at that point would have hindered the team for years afterward.

And keep in mind, DMo may be a nice guy and all, but he's had a minimal role during his time here and the team is firing on all cylinders without him. I see no need to throw extra money at him just to be nice and "player friendly." The last thing we want is to develop a reputation as a financially irresponsible team that overpays for damaged goods. We'd have Gilbert Arenas, Emeka Okafor and Baron Davis lining up for a handout.

No benefit to having as much information as possible on a guy you're deciding whether to extend a QO to?

Not when you can give him a physical at that point (which, btw, they just did).

    Hmmm... SI's latest is interesting:

The Houston Rockets are in talks with the NBA about "a resolution" as it does not appear that Donatas Motiejunas will sign the contract both sides agreed to on Friday, reports Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

    Link here.

So it doesn't appear that DMo will sign the contract? WTF is that supposed to mean? Is the holdup on the Rockets' part? Or DMo's? Or the Nets'? Or the league's?
