That photo was taken way back in 1991. Charles had major back surgeries in 93 and in 95 removing several vertebrae. That's why he always said "I'm not fat, I'm just short for my weight". ------------------ I'd rather be boinking my wife.

I heard from good sources that he was wearing his purple Prince boots that night the picture was taken. Charles is 6'6" tops...I'd bet on 6'5" though...I've stood next to him and I'm just 6'3" and he wasn't 5 inches taller. That camera angle is low making him look taller. I think you misread Doc's post, Achebe... or did you?? For those who have met Barkley, did you happen to notice if he had long arms(and I'm talking Quitten-like arm length)? I have a theory that Bark's reach was his "secret", much like over-sized hands were Jordan's and Dr. J's "secret", or Dream's ideal proportion is his "secret". ------------------
His arm length was not noticeably longer than normal. Pippen does have long arms, but he is thinner and has really big hands, which seem to stand out less on a bulkier guy like Chuck. Isn't it true that Charles Barkley was listed as 6-8 during his earliest years in Philadelphia. Besides most NBA players are listed 1 to 2 inches taller than they actually are-much like most people do in real life.
