Having Gordon as the 6th guy is like having Harden as the 6th guy on OKC or Iggy as the 6th guy in GSW: he's over qualified for the job but man does he get the job done. We may have him coming off the bench but honestly Gordon is really our 2nd star.
Perception over reality LOL. Ariza is so underrated just because defense doesn't show up in the scoreboard.
Anderson is ranked 1 place below Curry too:40% as well Rockets have 4 guys in the top 11 (Anderson is in a 4 way tie) in total makes still.
Ariza is criminally underrated on both sides of the court. If we're a top 4 seed, there's no way EG doesn't win 6MOTY.
Brace yourself because Rockets will be in the discussions come February for maybe a Milsap rental. Morey will always try to upgrade this roster.
True but it depends on how well they do from now until February. If they continue to win, beat some contenders along the way, I doubt Morey makes a move. Unless a team is desperate to unload a good player, there really isn't anything Morey will trade for.
It's what you need to contend really. I think most guys consider coming off the bench as a downgrade, I just hope Gordon is ok with that role as long as he's here. So far he seems ok with it.
Very few seem to agree with us because they are worried about the I word, or they like Bev too much. Harden needs another superstar to compete for a championship, and we possibly already have one, but choose to make him 6th man of the year instead of a bonafide star (super) because of injury concerns, or preference to another good player.
In four games in December, he's shooting 53.6% from the field and 52.6% from 3 (5 makes per game) while scoring 21.5 ppg in 29.3 mpg.
Preach man! Except GSW has the luxury of talent for that, just as OKC did, but didn't realize what they had and were cheap.
While you do need a great 6th man off the bench, you need a legit 2nd superstar first and more importantly in order to win a championship. Gordon could be that.
Ty hasn't been as good as Gordon for some time now. While a revival would have been nice, you knew what you were getting with Gordon. An amazing shooter that's injury prone.
Hard to say if Dantoni would have been better for him. The plays we run for EG are not special in any way. He is hitting shots and driving the lane - something that Ty never did effectively for us
Lawson? Probably, but not much. You can't blame Lawson's fall of the face of the earth on McHale, Harden, or Bickerstaff. He is a complete shell of himself.
That is hindsight. I remember the buzz around the league when we got Ty (pre season) that he was the key to getting us over the top until reality kicked in.
We already have our big three. Obviously, James Harden and Eric Gordon are our two stars, but Capela I think when he gets his rhythm; he will be a top 8, or 5 center in the league, and will be our third star.
Signings like this are why I never lose faith in Morey. Everyone (especially Clutchfans) was blasting Rockets for going all offense with Anderson, Gordon, and D'Antoni. Gordon was the signing I was most confident with - a secondary ball-handled/scorer/playmaker is exactly what Harden needed alongside him. He hasn't really had that since Parsons, and the offense has never looked as good or run as smoothly since than. Anderson hasn't been fantastic, but has been a great 3-point shooter and his presence alone opens up a lot of space for the offense. I'm still confused as to why the D'Antoni hiring got much hate. His career speaks for itself, and this team will never be a defensive juggernaut so why not double down on offense?
