Actor Robert De Niro has prostate cancer Monday, October 20, 2003 Posted: 6:41 PM EDT (2241 GMT) LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actor Robert De Niro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his spokesman said Monday. De Niro's cancer was "detected at an early stage" due to regular check-ups, and doctors "project a full recovery," said spokesman Stan Rosenfield in a statement. The statement did not disclose what sort of treatment De Niro was undergoing for his cancer. De Niro, 60, one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, has appeared in more than 60 movies in a career stretching back 40 years. He has been nominated for six Oscars, winning as best actor in 1980 for "Raging Bull" and as best supporting actor in 1974 for "The Godfather, Part II."
Best wishes and prayers for one of the greatest ever to grace the screen. Taxi Driver was one of the most disturbing yet fascinating movies ever made.
That is terrible. DeNiro is my all-time favorite actor. If anyone can beat this, it will be him. Stay strong, Bobby.
When I read this I was a bit suprised. I had just taslked to the surrogate mother of his 2 shildren earlier today. no wonder she was more of a b**** than usual. Hope he is ok, his kids are awsome. total energy all the time. at least from my experience. wish him the best for sure, but also sure he will be in amazing hands with his money and fame. PEACE
Heres to a quick recovery. I would love to see DeNiro and Scorsese team up again and put together another film.
Man...the legend has prostate cancer. I hope he and Marty put together one last good flick before riding off into the sunset. Here's to a quick recovery. DeNiro is the BOMB!!!!
This is terrible news, but like you guys said, I am fully confident that he can beat this. Seriously...Cancer stands no chance.
