Who ever said that Miguel Cabrera was actually available? It was conjecture on the part of some that thought the Tigers might be in sell mode...which they are not. Are you next going to blame them for "backing out" on not getting Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw?

From what I've gathered the Astros and many other teams are not willing to met EE salary demands.

Agreed but I also think they need to make a bullpen move also

    Yup.

The Rangers signed Ian Desmond to a 1 year deal.... they used him to get into the playoffs.... they then turn him into the #11 pick in the first round.

The Astros get sick of waiting on Encarnacion and sign Beltran...... the Rangers now likely will be able to sign Encarnacion to a contract less than what was on the table 10 days ago.

Now all the Rangers need to do is out bid the Astros for Quintana and the off season will be complete.

    3 thoughts:
    1. How stupid are the Rockies?
    2. Rangers will end up with a cheap EE, and 11th pick while the Astros get 1 year of Beltran (Although I am a big fan of getting Beltran)
    3. Astros HAVE to get Quintana or Archer, and soon.

I see the meltdown has already begun.

Seeing how the hopes lie on AJ Reed hitting 40 HRs this year, the season is already a lost cause.

HA! No meltdown here, I just find it funny. The Rangers (largely through circumstance) have been able to steal a lot of thunder from the Astros.

I still think that the Astros finish with a better record than the Rangers and have a shot at going to the WS.

Agree. We are not contenders now. They have to make a move to get 40 HR or bolster the staff.

The Rangers do not get the #11 pick from the Rockies. They get a pick sandwiched between the first round and 2nd round of the draft.

I will be so pissed if the Rangers get EE for 3 years 60M. I like our moves so far, but they do not put us over the top as serious WS contenders. Sign EE at his reduced price and trade the farm for Quintano (no Bregman) and we are serious contenders for the next 3 years. As it stands we are only a few million over last years salary. If ownership is truly all in they should prove it with these moves.

...where they will draft the next Mike Trout. Stick with the narrative.

And yet, all the Rangers have done so far is sign Gomez and lose their all-star outfielder, Desmond.

Signing EE would not as well.

The Astros basically have 2 blue-chip pieces that other teams covet: Bregman and Tucker. Both have been deemed "untradeable". Any other package will likely be matched or exceeded by other teams (Nats included). Also, in regards to possibly trading Martes... isn't a young club-controlled possible ace exactly the type of pitcher the Astros are trying to acquire? I don't see him going anywhere.

    It was tongue in cheek.........

Also I was a little surprised that Gomez got 11.5

i like that PSJ keeps insisting that our season rides solely on AJ Reed mashing 40 homers. that's awesome.
