What exactly hit the Rockets will take on our reputation? Because a guy doesn't show up for physical that we matched the offer? Come on now, you are better than that.
Let's both stop lying to ourselves and admit it was part of the Dwight deal. His agent made the Rockets promise to decline their TO on his deal and it's possible Morey agreed because of the things you mentioned. I still consider it a favor and Parsons took it and ran.
To me it just sounds like petty BS. He didn't like that that Rockets waited till the last day to tell him they were going to match, so he didn't show up the first minute he could. If it's true that he has 2 days to show up, I'd bet he is just being an ******* about it and he'll show tomorrow. We'll see.
Ben DuBose @BenDuBose BJ Armstrong is essentially using Motiejunas as a "test case" to try and make a power play on the RFA system. Feels like DMo is being used.
“We won’t be reporting,” agent B.J. Armstrong of Wasserman Media Group told The Vertical. Armstrong informed Rockets general manager Daryl Morey of the decision on Tuesday morning. Houston had been expecting Motiejunas, 26, to show up on Tuesday morning to undergo and pass a physical exam needed to sign and activate him. Motiejunas refused and has no intention of rejoining the Rockets, Armstrong said. For now, Motiejunas is rejecting those terms and moving himself into limbo again. Concerns over recurring back issues – which included surgery to repair a ruptured disk in 2015 – impacted the interest NBA teams had in signing Motiejunas to an offer sheet over the summer. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/donatas-motiejunas-refuses-to-report-to-rockets-184000511.html
What middle ground? He signed a contract, we matched, and he didn't report for his physical. If we return him to RFA and he doesn't get another offer from an NBA team, that is not the fault of the Rockets. How much of a hit did the Rockets reputation get for getting rid of Royce White? And what exactly is the NBAPA do other than raise a stink about this in the next CBA negotiation, which is reportedly going very well and likely include only minor changes in favor of the players regarding RFA? DMo is not significant to anyone, NBAPA included.
Forget about D-Mo, this extra roster spot opens up the door for GP2 to come in and reek havoc over the league.
DMo can't sign with the one team that offered him a contract, and by refusing to report to a physical, that really spooks all the other teams... Armstrong trying to get revenge on the Asik situation.
They may be right about this, but I would hesitate to trust what Sportando reports regarding the NBA. A few days ago, they were burned for reporting that Parsons needed another knee surgery and would be out for the season. Chandler himself called them out and they were forced to fire the reporter to save face.
