That just shows his immaturity in the sense that playing in high school is the same as in the NBA. Hehe, does anyone in the NBA care about him bringing up his days as a boy in high school?

In high school, his man among the boys. In the NBA, his the boy among the men. It's time for him to stop bragging his high school records.

I agree with the idea that Charles Barkley helped Yao in some popularity. Yao was a huge hype when he was selected, mainly cause he was the first foreigner to become the overall number one pick. He started out slow and then began to show he was for real later on in the year. I belive Lebron James is going to do the same thing. This guy (James) is just amazing, look for him to start out slow since the NBA is not highschool ball. But he will come around.

I still laugh about Barkley kissing Keny's ass. That was hilarious.

Eddie Griffin and Jay Williams' shooting will be at least comparable to Lebron.:D

Last season, Charles & his big mouth said if Yao scored 19 points in a single game, he would kiss a$$. This season, Charles should make a new bet that Yao will not score 20 points in a single game or else he's going to kiss the a$$ again. :D

Read that last article that droxford linked to. The "Chron article on Yao's opening night".

Notice it was Francis that sat on the bench next to Yao and tried to boost his confidence. He didn't get impatient with him or bash him for having a horrible game, he tried to encourage him. Then he tried to take some of the media bashing off of Yao by recalling the trouble he had in his first few games. That's the kind of things a lockerroom leader does. It's stuff like that that proves he's not the selfish, arrogant player so many of you want to believe he is.

No, Scott_H did not post on the official thread to that game. Over the past two years and one month, he has contributed a total of 25 posts, 6 of which were in that thread for Rockets vs. Pacers (opening night). He was really shooting his mouth off on that thread talking about how they were without Reggie Miller and still beating us. He said that "Ming is getting pushed around... looks weak."

Official thread: Pacers @ Rockets 12/18/2002
In the second matchup between Pacers and Rockets (WITH Reggie) Rockets beat the pacers 95 to 83 (box score). In that matchup between Yao and O'Neal, Yao played 38 minutes, had 29 pts, 10 reb, 6 blocks and made made 9 outa 10 free-throws. Reggie Miller had a whopping 8 pts in 41 minutes.

Lebron will be a success in the NBA. The guy is already an awesome passer and will continue to improve his shooting. The one thing I don't see in Lebrons game that makes me think he will never be the next is that he doesn't have the passion for the game like Micheal, Kobe, Duncan, or KG does. Then again it is the preseason.

I think Lebron will never be able to dominate like the players mentioned but will have a Kidd effect meaning that he will make his teammates better and will in the end be a super star in the NBA.

I dissagree on the premiss that Francis was 'the good guy' last season. It is true he meant well (he is a good kid) but he was tooo dumb to make good on-the-court decisions last season. So that meant he was 'technically' SELFISH on the court - taking his 'own' shots and concerning himself with his masturbatory dribbles and stats. That was last year. There is going to be a definite change in that regard this year onwards - whether he agrees, likes or wants it OR NOT.

The bottom = Francis has always been a good kid, we just hope his basketball IQ catches up with his outstanding and undeniable physical talent.

Unfortunately, the Cavs are going to expect too much from their self-proclaimed "Savior of the Franchise"

Wow, they really have invested a lot in a teenager in a man's league, but they did it...Lebron never begged to play...so the Cavs have got to live with the slow three year developing time chart that seems to be customary in the NBA.

But I hope he does well too!!:)

Lebron is a very good player, I predict he will exceed what Kobe will achieve in his career.

He can be the man in a team, but Kobe will never be.

I remember last year, the media didn't give much props to Yao. I read several articles saying that Jay Williams should be picked first overall before Yao. Then in the fantasy basketball magazines, they predicted Yao would get a measly 6.0pts 3.0 rebound season.
I haven't heard any of that regarding James this year.

Humm..the only person I heard say Jay Williams should have been picked first is Dick Vitale, who in my book has lost all credibility. Then again he did make fun of Tom Tolbert so at least Vitale attacks the idiots and has some value.
